December 16, 201114 yr I have the haze layer back again but with no box to get rid of it this time. Can I use ASE to do this and then use AS2012 w/o getting it back again?I am also getting sudden cloud shifts all the time even though I have suppression range outside of my max vis set at 59nm and am above it above 10,000 feet. I am using standard depiction which never gave me sudden cloud changes in ASE as long as the suppression were set correctly. Thanks Marc Lynn
December 16, 201114 yr Commercial Member Hi Marc,AS2012 cirrus textures automatically eliminate the haze layer.. so installing those will do it. If you are using other cirrus textures it depends on those. Yes ASE could be used to "adjust" a given graphics state's cirrus overcast texture to eliminate the haze layer. Not sure why you are getting cloud shifts. You may want to increase your suppression range further. If you continue having trouble please "ticket" us with some details including a log / flight plan so we can try and ID this. Thanks! December 17, 201114 yr Author I installed the AS2012 cirrus textures and then re-installed the REX ones. By doing that did I get that haze layer back? I think that is what happened.I think the cloud shift was because I was at the same altitude as the cirrus layer and sometimes that causes it to dissapear and re-appear again, typical FS thing. December 17, 201114 yr Author I think it was the fact that I forgot to set it to allways run as administrator. Just another quick question. There are some aspects of the FS haze layer I like. For example, even though you guys did a great job rendering fog with stratus clouds w/o the haze layer you can see down through holes to the ground where the visability appears to be to good. I fly jets so I do not notice it much except in descent at low altitude. Is it true that you will loose this effect if you enable the fs haze layer? Is the FS haze layer permanently disabled with AS2012 anytime it is running and my fluke of it not being disabled last time was because I forgot to run it as administrator? The reason I ask is because sometimes that haze layer will hide those holes in the cloud deck giving it a very real look like when flying above a layer of radiation fog. What would be the ultimate for you guys to do with the next release would be to alter this fs haze layer so that instead of having a hard lined look as the mountains poop through, somehow blend this into a hazy look, this would be increadable. The other thing would be to program it so it did not follow the airplane. As stations ahead of you reported different lower visibilities this could be reflected in the appearance as one looked out ahead. Just a fantasy wish for me but this would revolutionize FS. Marc Lynn
December 18, 201114 yr Commercial Member Thanks for the feedback Marc... there are limitations here to consider, the FS Haze layer is not controllable at all by us other than adjusting the texture to show or hide it (in which we always hide it with AS2012 cirrus textures). I agree though, having it expanded more to the horizon beyond the visible range would avoid the following effect and be more more realistic all around.. this is the main complaint with the haze layer, and why its automatically remove by default in AS2012 and other graphics add-ons.
