AS2012 Installation Procedures when using Clinet PC and SimConnect

Featured Replies

I've read the docs and I can't really figure this out. I'm going to run AS2012 on the Client PC and connect the FSX Server PC thru SimConnect. I'm pretty sure that means I need to install AS2012 on the client PC; however, do I also need to run the AS2012 installer on the FSX Server PC? If the answer is only the Client PC, how do the texture files get loaded into FSX? Are they pulled across my network every time I change them, and will that take significant time or is it just a minute or so?Thank you,James

You only need to install AS2012 on the client PC James then follow the instructions for X gauge if you want it in the PC running FSX.The textures get loaded as you describe, I think they are 'assembled' on the client PC then pushed over your network to FSX. The time taken depends on how many textures you wish to change.I run a network configuration and the client PC is a AMD Athlon 1.8GHz, with 1GB DDR2 I think) RAM running XP and with all textures selected it takes quite a few minutes to complete when I ask it to load WX influenced graphics. I would add that this is no different to asking REX to do the same. From reading the AS2012 user guide it would appear that the water textures take the longest to load so you may want to disable those once you have a set of textures you like.HTHDave
