December 24, 201114 yr Hi everyone,Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all. Now to my problem. I recently had problems removing fsx+ acceleration pack from my comp. I had many issues after doing so and a certain member here called me on Skype and guided me through the removal of lots of fsx bits because I couldn't reinstall it. Are his work I did reinstall. Now I want to install the Acceleration disk and it will not install. On the advice of my new found, very knowledgeable friend, I created a different install place. I.e. C:\FSX and this is where I wanted to put it.When I try to install the Acceleration pack, nothing happens at all. I opened 'Task Manager' to check this and there was no sign of install actions. I get no messages at allThis is a legitimate disk= FSX Gold EditionAll I see is a quick flash then nothing.I tried installing from install manager and by opening the disk and use setup.exeI hope someone can help. Thanks in advance, britpol Board- ASUS P5QD Turbo CPU- Intel® Core Duo CPU 3.00GHz GC- ATI Radeon HD 4800 RAM- 4 gig Joystick- Cyborg F.L.Y.5 (HID)

December 24, 201114 yr Author Hi Jim,Sorry to say that my Antivivus/firewall on Bitdefender total security has maked this as a 'Malware' site and I can't download. December 24, 201114 yr You might need to download and run the Microsoft Software License Reset Tool.Cheers,- jahman.
December 24, 201114 yr Author Hi,I tried the fix you suggested but no go. I think it's because the Windows installer is up the shute. I need to uninstall it and reinstall. Any ideas?Les Board- ASUS P5QD Turbo CPU- Intel® Core Duo CPU 3.00GHz GC- ATI Radeon HD 4800 RAM- 4 gig Joystick- Cyborg F.L.Y.5 (HID)
December 25, 201114 yr Are you using Windows 7 ?.... I ran into the same problem. FSX DVD installed fine. Acceleration DVD nothing happening at all... Solution : disable UAC ( User Account Control ) http://www.mydigitallife.info/how-to-disable-and-turn-off-uac-in-windows-7/ I believe it works for Vista too.Good luck !cheers,Jan Jan
December 25, 201114 yr If none of the tools suggested will work, then you have a problem with your original FSX installation. Uninstall and reinstall and make sure your anti-virus software is disabled when you reinstall and make sure you have disabled User Access Controls as these two programs could cause a bad installation. What anti-virus and User Access Controls programs do is prevent nasty things being installed to destroy your computer. Of course, you won't need these programs while installing FSX. You can enable both of them when you finish installing FSX but I wouldn't do it. I live without UAC or any anti-virus program installed and have never had a virus or problem with my system since August 1991.UAC can be disabled by clicking on the Start Button and typing UAC in the search bar. Look up in the Menu and you will see something like change User Access Controls. Click on it and move the slider all the way down.Old software programs like FSX and Acceleration require certain Microsoft Visuals C++ Redistributables too. You need to have the Microsoft Visuals from 2005 to 2010 installed and you can check this by looking in the Uninstall a Program section and look down to see what Microsoft Visuals are installed. FSX installs the 2005 redistributable and certain FSX addons and programs install the others. You can get the MSV packages at the following link - http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5555. In addition to 2010, look down at the bottom of the page and you will see links to the 2005 and other MSV's. Once installed, make sure you run Windows Update and make sure the packages are up-to-date as there have been many updates.FSX and Acceleration also require Microsoft .net software and that comes automatically included with Windows 7. You just need to run Windows update to make sure the package is up-to-date.Hope this helps.Best regards,Jim
December 25, 201114 yr Author Hi Jim,I'll try to uninstall later. Frightened it won't reinstall because of the InstallShield Wizard playing up.Les Board- ASUS P5QD Turbo CPU- Intel® Core Duo CPU 3.00GHz GC- ATI Radeon HD 4800 RAM- 4 gig Joystick- Cyborg F.L.Y.5 (HID)
December 25, 201114 yr Get CCleaner and do a registry clean once you are done. Also go into its tools/uninstall menu and make sure that the all FSX uninstall files are gone, If not use its remove tool it will remove the file. I have had issues where the uninstall file wasnt deleted and the program wouldnt install because it thought is was still there. Id also run the cleaner option to remove all your temp files.
