UTX, GEX and Control Inputs

Featured Replies

I know, I know...what the heck does that have to do with USB CHProducts inputs for a Flight Yoke and Comback Stick?Decided to go all out (stupid, I know with the new MS Flight on the horizon) and purchase the UTX packages and GEX packages from Flight1 to increase the realism effect on the way FSx terrain looked.Installed a bunch of UTX packages, no problem. Then went on to install the GEX North America package. Decided to go up on a night flight and check it all out - but nooooooooo. All the inputs were (seemed to be mostly throttle inputs) all messed up. Push the throttle forward (in) on the yoke set up and it doesn't want to stay there - it backs off slightly on its own and then gyrates back and forth faster than you can blink. Hmmm, tried the combat stick and no throttle response whatsoever. Tried to zoom the outside view with the keys on my keyboard, no response. Uninstalled the drivers to the devices and then reinstalled after a fresh shut down and restart - still the same. From what little I managed to coax the Cessna into the sky the scenery looked great - it's just now all the inputs are goofed up!How is it possible to loose all inputs froma simple scenery install? Doesn't make sense. Weird thing is everything was just working perfect control-wise just previous to all the installs. I googled it too.I have the latest FSUIPC beta installed and inputs took just fine to FSX, and now this. After all the hundreds of dollars I have dumped into this sim it gets me frustrated to the point of just chucking the whole thing off the hard drive.Any ideas, suggestions or prayers are welcome.Ugh. This, uh, stinks. No more flying...Jeff

Any changes made by UTX or GEX would have no effect on a controller. UTX has an Advanced feature panel that changes some areas of the FSX.cfg file, but nothing that should alter the files FSX uses for joysticks, pedals, etc.Windows 7 for your OS?

In case you're not, I would suggest assigning everything via FSUIPC. Then use FSUIPC joystick calibration tab to check your joystick inputs and outputs sent on to FSX. There is a very nice FSUIPC Guide for CH Products by John Cook.Chers,- jahman.

Yes, Windows 7 for OS 64bit.Any changes made by UTX or GEX would have no effect on a controller.Exactly - strange it would go nutso on me right after the install though, but oh well. It's this kind of stuff that drives me batty.I think I'll try assigning everything through the FSUIPC module and see if that helps. I don't have them set up that way right now so maybe more stable going through FSUIPC then? Thanks for the input guys.

It sounds to me like FSX has multiple assignments active for the throttle axis. Check in the Options -> Controls menu for every listed controller, and make sure that you don't have an unwanted assignment to the throttle (or any other) axis on another controller. Look at ALL listed controllers...rudder pedals, game controllers, joysticks etc. It's not uncommon for FSX to assign axes to game controllers like the Logitech G13 or Nostromo n52 when they're first attached to the PC.

Hmm...now there is another possiblity. I am going to check into that right now! Thanks so much!

FYI -Multiple entries was the culprit. "Mouse yoke" was one with entries listed the same as the Combatstick and USB Yoke. Go figure! Thanks again people!jeff
