Wind information displayed on FSX coordinates message

Featured Replies

Is there some reason that the FSX coordinates text display (Shift+Z) winds information is not updated to reflect the currect ActiveSky winds information? The direction is usually somewhat off and the speed is way off (FSX reports 5kts wind, but AS2012 and Reality-XP 530 report 28kts wind). I am assuming that it is just the way AS is controlling the wind that FSX is not reading and reporting correctly. The AS winds are most definitely the correct winds and the sim is reacting to the AS winds, just FSX not displaying the correct numbers in that screen text readout. Thanks,Jason

If you are using DWC Mode then try Standard Mode.

Well, I want DWC mode :)Just checking that (if using DWC) FSX is unable to display the correct in-sim winds information (my GNS is displaying the correct winds info, just not the FSX text line). Thanks,Jason

Jason, it should keep fairly close, even in DWC mode, minus the true vs. magnetic heading deviation. Now, when you 1st jump into FSX after already having AS up and running, the wind speed should be within a knot or two right away. The wind direction has some built-in smoothing so it takes DWC a little while to get the winds lined up as viewed with Shift-Z to the correct heading (I've seen the direction from initial 000 to around current 180 degrees take 5 minutes, or so). Now, if FSX shift-z is not updataing at all, then you have something else conflicting with the DWC writes to the FSX enviormment, causing them to stall or fail. 1) Assuming you already have it installed for whatever reason, make absolutely sure you get the very latest beta FSUIPC (registered or not) from Pete's forum. AS doesn't use it, but there was a problem with previous versions conflicting with AS in DWC mode. 2) Once you have the latest FSUIPC installed, go to the FSUIPC main screen and press the "Disable All Weather Settings" button and then the "OK" button to get out of FSUIPC and back to FSX. This will prevent anything in FSUIPC weather from interfering with AS in DWC mode.
