msfs 2024 gsx you crashed back on track
Even if you have turned them off in the past, SU updates will sometimes turn them back on. I checked mine again after SU4 installation and they were re-enabled. Needed to turn off MSFS-2024 crash, stress, and engine damage detection again. They are under Settings --> Assistances. Check the boxes to disable the sim default detections.

Brain freeze - starting piston twins from cold & dark?
I set my hardware to L and R full rich, then I use my mouse to pull them both to off before turning on the battery. Then again mouse only to manipulate the Left mixture, and again, mouse only to manipulate the Right mixture. On my hardware controls (I do not have bravo) once I set my hardware to 100% rich, I can move the virtual mouse mixtures without the hardware moving them back. It's only after I have both engines running that I touch the hardware mixture lever again. Edit: You could also map "MAGNITO 1 START" and "MAGNITO 2 START" to custom keyboard keys so you can hold them on start independently while mousing other objects.

Brain freeze - starting piston twins from cold & dark?
- Turn on both L and R fuel tanks (and also verify you have fuel) - Set both L and R mixtures Off Let's assume for this example you are starting Left and then Right... - Turn on only L fuel pump - Crack L throttle about 1/4 - Raise L mixture to full rich for a few seconds and then return it to off (for priming only L engine) - L mag to on and then to crank/start - While holding L mag on start you can toggle the L mixture a bit to add a bit of additional fuel during cranking. - If L engine starts, then raise L mixture to rich and adjust the L throttle for desired warup RPM. - if L engine did not start, it was probably either flooded during the process or never got enough priming fuel to begin with (Black Square cheat: you can watch the engine details in the tablet to see the fuel state of too lean or flooded). Repeat these steps for the Right engine -- important not to accidentally shutdown the running Left engine while raising & lowering the Right engine's mixture. They need to be handled independently.

Birmingham - Nantes.
These are really great pics! I particularly like the semi-wet (pics 2 & 3 takeoff), all of the interesting perspectives, and the last one with slats & spoilers.

Pyreegue - Birmingham (EGBB) is now out!
Absolutely! A missed opportunity. And signage for the Air-Rail Link Crazy Train.

MSFS 2020 has become so unstable
I have had a few MSFS application crashes lately. Since this was mentioned in another post, I am running DX12 on an Nvidia 3090. I did not run into the sim startup crash, only inflight crashes. I suspect my issues were related to Nvidia drivers -- or at least they were video related problems of some form or another. I don't recall the specific driver release numbers but in the first crash, screen went dark for a few seconds and when my desktop reappeared MSFS was gone. Interestingly, in that first crash it appears the entire driver was removed by windows because I had to reinstall the driver in order to get my screen desktop resolution back to normal. Two more crashes since then, each with the next driver released. Now on the most recent game driver no crashes (but I also have not had time to fly much the last couple of weeks). Anyway, all anecdotal, but I did suspect video drivers. I would much rather that than thinking my video card could be developing issues.

PMDG 737 Now Unflyable
Howard, I have a workaround I have been using . It is similar to the "esc, reload" solution given by others, but since I have always had developer mode on, this is the fastest way to reload an aircraft. My solution has been to turn on Developer mode. You will then see a menu across the top of the screen. Tools -> Aircraft Selector. Scroll or search for your model/livery. Double click on it. Aircraft reloads. This has successfully reset the aircraft for me each time it had loaded in a frozen state. A couple of times, but very rarely, I have had to re-reload twice.

Carenado aircraft wish list
In the upcoming B200, if it is steam gauges, please allow an option for RXP 530/430 integration. Jason

Wind information displayed on FSX coordinates message
jes0811 replied to jes0811's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumWell, I want DWC mode :)Just checking that (if using DWC) FSX is unable to display the correct in-sim winds information (my GNS is displaying the correct winds info, just not the FSX text line). Thanks,Jason

Wind information displayed on FSX coordinates message
Is there some reason that the FSX coordinates text display (Shift+Z) winds information is not updated to reflect the currect ActiveSky winds information? The direction is usually somewhat off and the speed is way off (FSX reports 5kts wind, but AS2012 and Reality-XP 530 report 28kts wind). I am assuming that it is just the way AS is controlling the wind that FSX is not reading and reporting correctly. The AS winds are most definitely the correct winds and the sim is reacting to the AS winds, just FSX not displaying the correct numbers in that screen text readout. Thanks,Jason

Starting to look really good
No screen shots, sorry...But after several flights, some tuning, some snapshots, and more tuning, I can definitely say I have AS2012 looking even better than I had ASE.There are still some minor and occasional issues with FSX's depiction of "overcast", but that was true of ASE too and I am really liking the new textures and overall appearance.Winds in general are also much better. Thanks,Jason

Real Overcast for FSX-down to minimums!
jes0811 replied to HiFly's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumAnd all I want to do is turn it on and get an honest depiction of the current weather where I start, and gradual changes as I fly around, wherever that might be. I had ASE dialed-in to the point that I thought all situations were highly believable without tweaking every flight.I'm still tweaking every AS2012 flight. I will eventually get it dialed-in for sure, because everything that made ASE look good was from ASE+XGraphics -- so there must be some formula to get that back.Jason

Depiction problem - AS2012 and ASE side-by-side comparison
jes0811 replied to jes0811's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHowever, I would still expect AS2012 to at the very least match ASE. It should be better than ASE, not worse. If I am able to get reasonable density coverage in ASE for a given METAR, then I should be able to get the same or better results in AS2012 using the exact same textures. This is not something that is beyond HiFi Sim's ability to correct. We just need to demonstrate that there is an issue relative to the results that were achievable in ASE.

Depiction problem - AS2012 and ASE side-by-side comparison
jes0811 replied to jes0811's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumWell, I don't know that this happens everywhere and under all weather conditions, but it just seems that coverage is thinner in general.I'm not upset about it -- we will figure it out ;)

Depiction problem - AS2012 and ASE side-by-side comparison
jes0811 replied to jes0811's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumMy screenshots were already using Enhanced Route Coverage setting (but it shouldnt matter anyway in this case because I was sitting still at a major airport). I had replicated the settings between ASE and AS2012 as close as possible.

Depiction problem - AS2012 and ASE side-by-side comparison
Further investigating the seemingly low density in AS2012 in many cases, I have a simple comparison.I have not changed textures or installed graphics during this test. Both AS2012 and ASE have virtually the same WX Option settings.Started FSX and went to CYWG.CYWG 230100Z 18012KT 10SM BKN031 OVC070 M04/M06 A3009Started AS2012, waited for the Synthesis Complete status, and took screenshot #1AS2012I then closed AS2012, started ASE, verified the metars were the same, and then took screenshot #2ASEAs you can see, screenshot #2 (ASE) has more density/coverage and is generally darker than screenshot #1 (AS2012). When I pan around in AS2012 there are many gaps and clear sky, but ASE is solid. In AS2012 there are only a few cumulus clouds overhead and then a doughnut of clear sky until the background clouds way off in the distance. Here is a side-view from AS2012:AS2012I can't figure out why. Thanks for any help...

Another depiction problem
jes0811 replied to denver69's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumSeems I am having a similar problem? Current conditions report overcast, but I have clear blue sky above with only a few scattered clouds in the distance. On the Edit WX page: CYXT 230556Z 18013KT 6SM -SN FEW008 BKN018 OVC040 02/M03 A2977I'm not getting the light snow either.

Snapshots and Graphics Settings
With Snapshots (and particularly AS2012 AutoGenerated snapshots), Are the current Graphics Resolution settings used during the creation of the snapshots but then not when you select/install a snapshot? Basically, if I change my graphics settings (say to lower or higher resolution and/or DXT5/32 bit quality) do I need to regenerate previously AS created snapshots? Also, with AutoGenerated sets, is there any relationship to the defined set of themes, or does it randomly generate across all of the texture types and variations? Thanks,Jason

How to upgrade from ASE?
jes0811 replied to jes0811's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumI did that last night. No response yet. I'll keep looking. Thanks,Jason

How to upgrade from ASE?
Hi,A couple of months ago I saw the notice about Actice Sky 2012 coming soon and a statement about special updrade pricing for existing ASE customers.Yesterday I saw the release announcement on AVSIM, but I can't find any information about how to upgrade for existing customers. The store seems to only offer the regular discount, not an existing customer upgrade price.I have purchased/owned every version of ActiveSky (and XG) since 2004 and have records of all of my old license keys. How do we upgrade? Did I miss an anouncement? Thanks,Jason

How to use two RXP GNS 430
I would have even preferred an option to replace the Aspen glass with two Reality-XP T gauges. Some Carenados are more configurable than others. Here is an example of my favorite retrofit... The Carenado Cessna 208 with everything replaced by RXP T/N gauges, 530/430 GNS, and S-TEC autopilot:But, certainly the newer models with 3D buttons are much harder to customize without pre-designed options by the developer.

How to use two RXP GNS 430
This is a showstopper for me. I use dual GNS in the panel (no popouts). It would have been perfect if there were a 530/430 option (for those of us that do not have the GNS Unlimited Pack). Second choice would be 430/430. But, in any case, integration/buttons would need to be seamless directly in the panel. Why they did not consider these options when designing for and advertising RXP integration?

Freeze on/after final (not what you're thinking)
Ok, I guess I didn't realise that this was the symptom of "freezes", but I have also had this two times (no hotfix). Both times on final after turning off the AP the plane took a severe right turn and descended into the ground. It never lasted long enough for me to realize that all systems frose (I was too busy screaming "pull-up!"). It is a shame that we don't have a solution to the FSX 32bit memory limit. So many smart people that have developed around other limitations (antilag comes to mind). Something external that manages memory for FSX perhaps... probably impossible. Another small, possibly related issue. Again, always on short final when I don't need anything "unusual" to happen, my view sometimes automatically switches to external view all by itself. Always at the worst possible time when I need to monitor the approach instruments or turn off the A/T. Just flicks to external and then I need to hit F9 to jump back inside.

Traffic
Since my original post, I changed my filter to 9999 (the highest variation that will correctly display on the ND). It seems to be working fine. I will have to watch some online traffic more closely to be sure that FSX and FSInn are reporting the traffic altitude correctly. Then I can dial down the altitude filter again.
