February 18, 200422 yr Did a short flight for approx 1:20 mins close to theend of the flight this message telling me FS9 hadrun of memory, etc. popped-up. I was at a loss forthis since my deck has 1Gb RAM and many free gigson the hard disk.Repeated the flight and halfway through I did acheck on memory usage and it was a whooping 730Mb and steadily going up. Then something funnyhappened, I minimised the FS9 window to desktopand then restored it and the memory usage droppedto approx 100 odd then started growing again.I've read some posts on this forum about memory leaks with AFCAD, etc. but since I don't use AFCADat all, what could be the reason for this? Does this mean I have to collapse FS9 to desktopregularly to avoid this happening again? After reading raving reviews about FS9 I am quitedisappointed by the amount of issues/problems I've hadto deal with since I installed it.Grateful for any advice.
February 18, 200422 yr Author Try moving, zipping, or renaming the file default.xml found in the FS9/Autogen folder. If that solves your problem, search the file library for a replacement default.xml for autogen or live without it. Some people suspect that on some systems, once an autogen object is loaded, it is not removed from memory.Let us know!Best,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
February 18, 200422 yr You should download a program called MaxMem (NOT MemMax, although this is also a useful program as well). This program really works. With FS9 you won't really see the full power of it because all it can do is make FS work properly. With more memory intensive programs (like large scale mapping) MaxMem really struts it's stuff and is pretty amazing. With FS9 I can leave my computer running almost indefinitely it seems doing multiple flights, downloads, other programs, with no memory problems, and when I finally decide to shut down I have more free memory than when I first booted up! Give it a try.Davidedit: URL: http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/system/maxmem.htmI use the default settings (never experimented with changing them) and have it running in the background most of the time now.
February 18, 200422 yr Thanks guys for the replies, I downloaded MaxMem and installed it, also renamed the autogen file and nowthe memory usage appears pretty stable.
February 19, 200422 yr Author To be thorough, did you restore your autogen while running Maxmem, just to be sure you're not missing out on all those KFCs? ;)Best,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
