January 7, 201214 yr Hi All,Apologies if this request has been addressed previously, just registered so new to the forum.Just rcv'd version 6 VoxAtc from Bob at RCS, previously had version 3.xx.Installation "appeared" to go ok ( no error messages) but when I "enable" VoxATC, you guessed itFATAL ERROR disable etc.Of course its Saturday.. Bobs closed, VOXATC web site is down so before I uninstall & start againCan anyone shed some light on the possible causes.. I did not uninstall Version 3.xx, Should I have??.Any advice would be helpfull.Steve J
January 7, 201214 yr Not sure if it would help, but I think you should have uninstalled the old version. There is a log file somewhere, but I cannot remember where at the moment. If you can find that, then see what it says, it may contain a clue to the problem. Helge Rasmussen
January 7, 201214 yr Author Hi Helge,Thanks for the reply, as I read more on this FATAL ERROR problems I seem to think that you are correct in that I should have uninstalled the previous version first, but its supposed to be an "upgrade" ?. It would appear its a full new install !, strange as the programme did not ask me for the keycode only for the UK enhancement section key code.Reading the forum messages it would appear that "old" key codes do not work with V6, so that may be the problem??.Will uninstall everything & reinstall V6 from scratch so to speak. Thanks Again.Best Wishes.SJ
January 7, 201214 yr Author Clean Install. FATAL ERROR message at startup. Was working fine with V3.xx.Guess I should not have bothered !? upgrading.
January 7, 201214 yr I will try to see if I can figure out where the logfile is tomorrow, and post it so you can check it for error messages. Helge Rasmussen
January 7, 201214 yr Author Thanks Helge. It seems strange that ONLY you have taken the trouble to respond! for which I thankyou.I cannot understand software that leaves you "guessing" what the problem is without detailing it, "Fatal Error" means nothing without feedback to the userthis is poor programming me thinks!.The web site does not appear to be of any help either!. I guess if it can't be sorted its back for a refund !!.Best Wishes.SJC
January 8, 201214 yr Hi,I found the file in /Computer/Local Disk (C:)/Users/Helge/AppData/Roaming/Internal Workings/VoxATC X/Err.logYou will have to replace "Helge" with your own login name. Also, if you aren't on Win7, then you will have to look for it. Try to search for "VoxATC X" or "Err.log" on your disk.Anyway, try to go there using an explorer, maybe you can find an explanation there. This forum is not official support forum, its just the users of VoxATC that posts here.If you need support from the author of VoxATC, then use the form on voxatc.com/Contact.aspxHope this helps, Helge Helge Rasmussen
January 8, 201214 yr Author Hi helge,Thanks for the info.Ok, found the err.log (eventually after access denied meassages UGH!)a whole heap of errors but the main one appears to be:- Unable to load DLL 'SimCon': The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800736B1)Could not find this SXSTRACE.exe file however.have dropped an Email to VOXATC showing this error in the hope they can correct or advise.I live in hope ( but not much hope I'm afraid), after some 7 hours of getting nowwhere my patience is almost exhausted.Cheers SJ
