January 7, 201214 yr Looking for a diagram of how the cores of the i7 950 are physically laid out on the chip. Are they sequential 1-2-3-4 across the chip? Upper left, upper right, lower left, lower right? I'm trying to figure the "thermal footprint". Under 100% load, my 1 and 2 cores are consistently 6 or 7 degrees hotter than my 3 and 4 cores. I'm just wondering if I might have a "hot spot" on my cooler heat exchanger. My spec's are in my signature. Joe Brown
January 7, 201214 yr I'm having trouble relating that to the heatspreader, but I'm betting "Intel" would be up right with the given image.A temperature spread is normal for these chips under load. There's not really anything you'll be able to do about it except make sure you have evenly spread the thermal paste and have properly seated the heat sink. January 7, 201214 yr I wouldn't worry too much about it. Differences of 10+ ºC are not unusualMy I5 750 did it, my 2600K does it too.You could lap your CPU and/or H70, but I don't think it's worth the hassle
