Flight planning in VoxATC

Featured Replies

I enjoy flying the PMDG 747-400X and I am now attempting to do so with VoxATC. Normally, I create the flight plan in FSX with the FMC using actual IFR routes from FlightAware.com. It appears that I must also recreate that flight plan in FSX using the FSX Flight Planner if I am to use VoxATC. My question is: is there any way to load the *.rte file that is created in the PMDG FMC electronically without having to re-enter all of the waypoints again in FSX. I am sure there must be ways of doing this and am hoping to hear how others do this.Jack McAfee

you don't need the rte for vox to work, what you need is the *.pln file, however most planning tools and many of those sites that support exporting theflight plan to RTE file format, would probably also support exporting the flight plan in PLN format as well.so all you need to do is make your flight plan / route and export it twice.one for the PMDG and the other for FSX.in the FSX menu (main menu) just load the flight plan (file) and press "fly now" after it was loaded.that is what I do.

Hey thanks for your reply, i have download it but seem to be getting error messages etc, also is there a site you use to get the real flight plan from as i want to follow a flight plan that was flown last week or last month rather than just adding way points of my ownthanks

yes, there are few:for North America (and/or all flight that are leaving/approaching NA) you could use:http://flightaware.c...tics/ifr-route/for the rest of the World, feel free using:http://www.vataware.com/ ("Top Routes" on the left Pane)(i personally use vataware for all my routes including NA).You could also use a program from "vroute.info", they have a free version which would give you routes for almost any origin / Destination.you could also export the route to FSX (PLN file). With the payed version you would get much more (I have the payed version), it would calculate fuel for you, give you weather reports and export to many FSX addons formats, like SquackBox/FSINN, LEVEL-D, PMDG and more.that way you could get the route in "vroute.info" and just export the route for PMDG (rte file) and FSX (pln file) in one simple move.and you are all set to go with Vox & PMDG.I have noticed that "vroute.info" routes and "vataware" routes are pretty much identical routes in most cases. - just an FYI.I use "vroute.info Premium" (payed version).

Hey that site is good thanks for your advice, for a little while ( aweek or so ) ill stick with the free version till i figure it all out proply as i aint really done any flight plans like this before so its all new to me, i have also just found another site"sim routes" one question i have my flight is from egcc to egkk manchester-gatwicknow on vataware that flight is with 737-800 howeva the Sid from egcc is HON so is the star for egkk the last one before the airport if so its KIDLI but on sim routes that sid dont exsist for egkk am i doing something wrong ? EGCC Airport Direct Manchester 2. HON Navaid Direct Honiley (113.65) 3. HON13 Fix N859 4. HON16 Fix N859 5. HON19 Fix N859 6. KIDLI Fix N859 7. EGKK Airport Direct Gatwick id be greatful for your help again if you have any idears where i am going wrongthanks

I personally don't use sim route site any more as it has very little routes in it.vataware / vroute.info has much more routes and everything in sim route is sure exists in vatawere/route.info.as for the SID and STAR, I would advise you not to include those in your flight plan as that's the job of the ATC to decide on the SID/STARbased on the weather/RW in use and your flying route. that is why ATC are out there. (Vox is the only current ATC for FSX that supports Dynamic assigning SID/STAR).Let Vox assign you the SID/STAR.if you still want to use Sim Route for their plight plan Export capabilities , you could instead using their in house routes they got, create your own one on the site.that could be done by clicking the "Generate Routes " link on top the main page.goto vatawere or route.info, generate a route, then head over to sim routes site, "Generate Routes " , copy and past the route from vatawere/route.info to the Sim routethen just export those to FSX/PMDG from Sim route page.with my experience, the Export in sim route for PMDG wasn't that great, all the "VIA" part in the LEGs page were missing.I export them using vroute.info.you could also copy and past the route to the Tool I posted earlier (virtual-dispatch), it also has export capabilities as well.

ok ill give it a wirl again with out the sid and start, but inorder for voxatc to give me a sid or star do i have to set them up in voxatc ? or does it auto asign it to you ?

Vox auto assign them for you, that is the real great magic of Vox...Remember though.. To be assigned a SID or STAR, your flight plan must have some waypoints that correspond withwaypoints in the SIDs at your departure airport and/or STARs at your destination. The assignedprocedure may vary depending upon the runway in use.if you use vatawere or vroute.info, in most cases are ok/covered, as most of the routes there contain correspondingwaypoints , another reason why you should use them :)
