January 15, 201214 yr Do you really think that Boeing deliberately uses a less safe procedure for autoland? I doubt that.Quote from the 767 FCOM:At 500ft the autopilot systems initiate a slip at 500ft if the crab angle exceeds 5deg. Edited January 15, 201214 yr by bstolle
January 15, 201214 yr Author My purpose was to make a small single GA aircraft land realisticly. Windward main first with cross controll. I never fly big jets as I could never pilot one for real. I agree though. I just couldn't see a big jet land on one main. I think the kicking the rudder just before touchdown is to have the plane land on both mains.

January 15, 201214 yr This is the way I was instructed to do it in a C152.This is what I do in my bugsmasher: If you don't TD level in a 747 you might end-up working for free for quite some time until you pay for the repair of engine 1 (or 4) after from hitting the RWY pavement. In a B-58, TD with even just the tiniest bit of one gear first, means going for a wild ride on the RWY thanks to aileron PIOs:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGmyxzh4c1cCheers,- jahman.
