February 20, 200422 yr Must be true considering the 1500 plus downloads... Just wondering, if this would've been a commercial package i would've probabely not searched in vain for some comments about it. True, because of the lack of working gauges in the, otherwise, very nice internal model, it is not up to nowadays commercial standard, but as a freeware package it is of considerably high quality, atleast imho. Since i actually did search in vain for any comments regarding this just released package i thought i'd try to get a topic going about this remarkable aircraft which can be counted amongst those with the longest careers both in civil and militairy service. So, any of you 1500 plus people who downloaded the package, what do you think about it ? I, for one, love it but i could do with some info about how this aircraft is to be handled, what about the sound of the Cheetah engines, regarding the included radio set, was it really IFR capable ( no gauges to confirm that ), how does the flightmodel (which feels very nice to me)compare with the real Anson, anyone like to share his flight manual, etc.Interested, missed it, and got bored of all them Airbuses ? : http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?DLID=44363It's wonderful ! :9 Kudos to Dave Garwood,Dave Booker, and Saverio Maurri !Jan
February 20, 200422 yr Hi Jan,Thanks for the heads up on the Anson. I'll have to get it when I get back home, and see if I can find a suitable sound set.Have you tried letting Dave Garwood know that there is a problem with the gauges ?Cheers,Alastair
February 21, 200422 yr Hi Alastair,>Have you tried letting Dave Garwood know that there is a>problem with the gauges ?Well, no because actually there is no problem with the VC gauges, just his style of VC design, he just leaves them out....:) Don't know if you have his outstanding Dragon Rapide but the same thing there, nice VC but no gauges... Maybe i *should* drop him a line, i hate it when he does that. (-: Jan
February 21, 200422 yr Thanks for the heads up Jan. I've been looking for an Anson for flightsim for so long I'd given up. This one is a beauty. My father did his navigation training on Ansons in the RCAF so I especially like the navigator at his table with his charts laid out.I now have an Anson, Bill Lyon's Cessna Crane and a really nice Harvard in my fs hangar. I'm ready to begin a virtual Commonwealth Air Training Plan!RegardsBlairCYOW(My daughter's name is Annie too. I never thought of the coincidence)
February 21, 200422 yr It is a fantastically modelled acft. However, I did email him inquiring about any future inclusions of a dynamic VC, with no replies. It is the only thing stopping this thing from being outstanding.having said that, I'm thinking Javis needs to stop playing with it and get something else done, so he can get another thing done that I, and the crew of the Hornet, is waiting for. *grin*
February 22, 200422 yr Jan,I don't know which country you live in but in UK we have an aviation magazine called "Pilot" and the November 2003 issue had a good article with coloured photos about flying the Anson. The magazine is available as a back copy order from www.pilotweb.co.uk. Hope this helps,KFD
February 23, 200422 yr Hi Blair,>My father did his navigation training on Ansons in the RCAF so>I especially like the navigator at his table with his charts>laid out.Yes, the crew figures are very nicely done, aren't they, give a nice atmosphere to the internal. The nav displays the exact attitude too when flying around Canada, scratching his chin looking at the GB map.. ;-) The RCAF did not use the MkI, did they ? If only he'd suplied a VC ghost panel, we could've added the gauges ourselves.( or atleast *you* could and send me the panel.cfg so i could 'get something else done' ;-) ) Jan
February 23, 200422 yr Thanks much for the tip, KFD ! No luck yet finding a way to order the back copy at the Pilot site but i'll keep trying. I have the Air Atlantique video, some nice teaser shots of their Anson while preparing for the 50's Airshow.Btw, i'm a dutchie. I have a couple of meters of Aeroplane Monthly and Aircraft Illustrated a.o. which i'm going through. Obviously there must be something about the Anson in there, maybe even a feature. Hope i can get that Pilot back copy too!Jan
