January 21, 201214 yr Hi there, I'm planning to purchase some saitek rudders in the near future. Just a quick q --Do rudder functions change depending on the speed of the aircraft? Lets say you're landing the aircraft, your rudders on touch down (150+ knots) would function as...rudders, but upon slowing down they function as brake pedals? Or do you press on different part of the pedal -- "toe brakes"? Thanks. Soarbywire - Avionics Engineering
January 21, 201214 yr How are ya.. Yes, you use toe brakes to disarm autobrakes to go to manual braking.. Tony Fontaine
January 21, 201214 yr Author I'm not too sure how the hardware specifically works, but do you use your heels to control the rudder even in flight? How about if you accidentally press the toe breaks while still flying, will you disarm the autobrakes? Thanks Soarbywire - Avionics Engineering
January 21, 201214 yr On approach the autobrake can't disarm until you apply pressure while on the runway, in the real NG it takes a little more muscle to disarm them.. Your heels stay on the floor then you move them up to use the toe brakes.. Tony Fontaine
January 21, 201214 yr like in reality - the pedals have 2 different axis. the heels control the rudder / Ground steer axis and the foot control the brake axis.moving the whole pedal forward and backward with the heels - command the rudder. Pressing the pedal down command the brake. The auto-brake disarm by 2 cases - apply brakes or retract the speed brakes.Pressing the brakes in air would not affect the arm of the auto-brake Sagi Yanay, VATIL NGX Driver
