January 21, 201214 yr Hi there again,Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong here -have been practising manual high-speed over-altitude approaches (because it's fun, and you never know..)I encountered a situation a couple of days ago whereby I was on final; I dosconnected the AP and AT at around 3000 feet to fly a manual. I was a little high on the GS but still had filled diamonds; I lowered the gear - again, I was going faster than i should have been, and leaving it late; just playing around with limits etc. Late flaps, too.ok, firstly, the gear did not deploy - they got stuck and I got three orange lights (NOT going over Vle though); then the AT cut back in and my N1 went up to 40% and would not let me lower it despite the throttle markers moving up and down on the N1 display on the DU. No autopilot lights were active (CMD A/B; A/T etc) The throttle was stuck on 40%N1Is this correct? Bearing in mind that, at this point I am about to unwittingly simulate a belly-up, no gear, hi-speed slide down the runway (yes I know it would result in a bit of a mess in RL) but couldn't lower the N1 speed. Has my NGX just turned into an Airbus and gone all Fly-by-wire on me?i know these are extreme circumstances, but hey, it's a game (/me ducks and runs away) and I can do it. Please don't flame me!Thanks JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
January 21, 201214 yr Watch out the N1 limit mode, if it was stuck on climb the EEC will limit the idle to about 40% N1, that happened to me, if that happens just change the N1 mode to manual and it will switch to approach idle.
January 21, 201214 yr Author Thanks for the reply, Santiago,So, even though I had disabled any FMC/VNAV speeds, and I (thought) was in approach ref mode, not climb..this will be the behaviour..So the plane realised my gear hadn't locked and selected it for me, or what? I'm pretty sure I wasn't in climb, as I had been descending for about 130nm! JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
