  1. RAMdisk = virtual drive on RAM I have no idea if FSX gets much smoother when compared to SSD, but remember RAM is a volatile memory, so everything in it will be deleted when you turn off your PC.
  2. Yeah... for 5760x1080 get a 4GB 670, though if you are going to play other games than FSX and are interested in highest settings, you'll need 2 670s if you want to have 60+ FPS.
  3. Haswell will apparently be 10% faster per clock than Ivy Bridge.
  4. Oh well, if it costs the same then yeah. Though, I wouldn't really advice you to get 16GB since you'll never use more than 6.
  5. 750W is rather overkill for that build, 650W is more than enough and will save you some money. Also, 1866mhz RAM, why? You wouldn't even notice it over 1333mhz one, so just get 1333 or 1600mhz and save yourself some money. As for the CPU cooler, I'd go for something bigger like Noctua NH C14 (or D14 if the case can fit it), so you have more room to OC in the future.
  6. It is better yes, and saves you money. Do you really need 512GB SSD? Are you sure you can even fill up the 256GB one just with important games (eg FSX) and OS?.
  7. I wouldn't do that if I were you. I would put FSX + OS + any other game you want (if you have spare room) on the SSD; that way, you'll notice much more difference vs having OS and FSX on separate drives. IMO Velociraptor is overpriced, a waste of money if you have FSX and OS on the SSD, you won't notice that much difference vs a 7200RPM HDD, so do yourself a favour and put FSX and OS on the SSD and buy a 7200RPM drive such as WD Caviar Blue.
  8. I have a good realistic set of both ground and air vibrations if you are interested. http://www.mediafire...muql6036pw5viqq Just place that where you want and import the camera when in FSX. You can also copy the effects to the rest of your cameras if you want.
  9. What you bought is fine, it should run very well, so as long as you are fine with the mATX mobo, don't change anything.
  10. Wow, I have all my stuff installed and it takes about 500GB ;_; I will get a 240GB SSD but I will keep two HDDs, one for minor programs that don't need to take the SSD's precious space and the other one for storage.
  11. I hope you are aware of the fact that Maximus V Gene is a micro ATX board. I think the Sabertooth is the best mobo to overclock, from what I've read on its reviews. I'll get the Maximus V Formula myself though.
  12. Yeah, what Aamir says is true. You should really build it yourself, it is really easy plus you earn the experience and save a few hundred $ which you can spend in other components. Also, if you build it yourself you know you aren't getting refurbished hardware or stuff like that...
  13. Love that video, and coming soon... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Edifc-mQVtI
  14. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227740
  15. Good, but also socket 1150... I guess the Sabertooth I'm getting won't last more than 1.5 years in that case lol....
  16. Depends. i7 3820 is not a massive performance increase, so it's up to you to decide if it's worth your money. If they PC is not strictly for FSX then just go for i5 2500k. For me, i7 3820 is not worth it... Don't get i7 2600k unless you going to do a lot of video editing and rendering. Also, X79 mobos are usually expensive and uncompatible with the rest of the Intel line (LGA 1155) so if you regret or upgrade in the near future you'll have to buy a new mobo again.
  17. Nice video, I switched to 680 recently and I gotta do all the fsx.cfg optimization again :'( Didn't use to get 60fps all the time, mostly 30-50, like 20 on addon airports. What did you use to optimize your fsx.cfg? FSX is really unenjoyable without optimization, MS should've done this lol :(
  18. I'd go for Corsair GS or even wait for Neutron GTX series... I'll probably get one of those in a few months.
  19. Dude, don't, just don't. I suggest you save for a few months and buy a better quality rig, that way you will be able to play modern games and FSX, instead of buying super cheap crap now, be patient. It's not worth it to buy that thing now as you won't run many games, saving is better, will get you better parts. Save to like 1000-1300 and you'll have a good PC. And no, DON'T BUY AMD.
  20. GTX 670 is the best bang for buck, it will run pretty much every game out there maxed out or close to maxed out @ 1920x1080. I chose EVGA cause I personally like it, but it's really personal preference so I suggest you look into the different models / brands and choose the one you like the most B)
  21. Yeah, quite weird you don't use it over here :P it's pretty popular and helpful
  22. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/dOMM Really, I don't know why you'd want 3770k as HTing has no use ingame and it costs like $100 more, if you are gonna do a lot of heavy video editing and rendering fine but if not just get i5 3570k. The mobo: I really found that mobo you wanted really overpriced and with a lot of stuff I suppose you won't use, so I switched it for a cheaper one and used the money on other parts. If you really really want that mobo for an odd reason, then get it but you might not be able to buy all the other stuff I suggested. Corsair H100 cooler, don't know if your case supports it, but if it doesn't get H80 or even an air cooler (eg Noctua NH D14 or C14). Don't know if you have an OS but since you didn't mention it, I added one. Keyboard and mouse are really personal preference so I can't add one for you, you'll have to choose.
  23. 850W is overkill, 650W will do fine for a 670 + 3770k.
  24. Oh well, couldn't edit the post. About 5fps loss compared to clear skies with 680.
