BATC and AIRAC cycles
Thank you bork. I guess I had not thought about that if you changed the base sim navdata that BATC would be able to recognize and utilize it. A couple of questions though - 1) If at some point one decides to revert back to utilizing the base sim navdata vs. Navigraph navdata is it a simple process to do so? 2) Are the base sim nav charts (i.e. LIDO charts, FAA charts) still available if you override the base sim navdata with Navigraph navdata? (further - if you discontinue Navigraph for a few months and thereby lose Navigraph charts access, are the base sim charts still available to use). Thank you very much.

BATC and AIRAC cycles
Thank you everyone for your responses. They are very much appreciated. I will definitely take a look at FsHud and get familiar with its capabilities. "No Navigraph needed for BATC. The base sim navdata is working fine and is updated regularly." My concern (or maybe confusion!) is that although BATC utilizes up to date MSFS 2024 nav data, I believe you must generate your flight plan from SimBrief and not the MSFS 2024 EFB flight planner. SimBrief creates flight plans using data from its' default or your last purchased Navigraph AIRAC cycle, consequently the data used to generate your flight plan is potentially different from the data used by BATC to provide ATC. However, maybe in practice any discrepancies are rare, minor and of little consequence. Thank you all again for your input.

BATC and AIRAC cycles
Thank you for your response SierraHotel BSc. BATC, although still in development, does seem like a good alternative to the MSFS 2024 ATC and it is nice to read that you are quite happy using it. I am just trying to understand the financial commitment to effectively utilize BATC over and above the one-time software payment. I have utilized Navigraph previously and find it to be a very good product, but would generally purchase a subscription once every 6-9 months or so. I guess I need to decide whether I will purchase an annual subscription or remain on a 6-9 month schedule and accept the "specific discrepancies".

MSFS 2024 Land of the Not Quite Right
I purchased MSFS 2024 after SU4 had been released, so I have no frame of reference as to sim behavior prior to SU4. I have definitely experienced parking location - jetway misalignment issues (i.e. when the aircraft spawns on start up the jetway is crossing through the fuselage or, after landing, when arriving at the gate the respective jetway is crossing the parking position line). However, I do not find this to be the case at all airports. I have also experienced the described pushback tug issue, however when flying the Fenix A320 I activate pushback utilizing the Fenix EFB (allows you to pushback straight, left or right) to mitigate this. I also tend to wait a little bit before clicking "ready to fly" to allow objects to load, however it seems the aforementioned can occur regardless.

MSFS 2024 Fenix A320 wingviews, Approach phase
Hello, Just purchased the Fenix A320 and am setting up various cockpit, etc. views. Does the A320 come with pre-set wing views or do you need to utilize one or more of the custom camera 0-9 views? If there are pre-set views, can they be mapped to a joystick button? In researching this question I found this post from Aamir from 2022, however it must only pertain to MSFS 2020 as I cannot find the described views in MSFS 2024. Aamir's post - "Hey! We include 6 wingviews/cabin seat views by default, but MSFS orders the cameras in a pretty special way: camera dropdown > internal > instruments > scroll down to find all the included wing/cabin views." Second question - when activating "Approach phase" on the MCDU, does the Fenix A320 then command speeds based upon flap setting, i.e. Flaps up = green dot speed, Flaps 1 = S speed, Flaps 2&3 = F speed, Flaps full = Vapp speed. Previously flew the Toliss A319 in XP11 and it did this fairly well - my first couple of flights in the Fenix I am not quite sure yet... Thank you very much.

Nav databases & Simbrief
Hi Farlis, Thank you so much for your explanations and help! It is really very much appreciated. I am considering purchasing the Fenix A320 and the TDSGTNxi for GA so a Navigraph subscription would probably be best for those addons. Very interesting the differences you identified between Jeppesen and LIDO approach charts. Thank you so much again for your knowledge and assistance.

Nav databases & Simbrief
Thank you very much Farlis, Tuskin38 and jmdriskell for your responses! Most appreciated! I am finding that certain MSFS addons I would like to purchase most optimally utilize Navigraph data vs MSFS 2024 native data...so that certainly is an important consideration. Will reach out to Navigraph / Simbrief as to why my current Simbrief AIRAC cycle indicates 2403 when my last purchased AIRAC cycle was 2507. If I could ask another question... if I continue the practice of purchasing a Navigraph subscription every 6 months or so, would like to confirm that the nav data used by the simulator will remain as the last purchased Navigraph AIRAC cycle until I either purchase a new AIRAC cycle or restore the then current MSFS 2024 nav data. Further, if my understanding is correct, when the 1 month Navigraph subscription expires the in-sim EFB flight planner will continue to display current LIDO and FAA charts (Jeppesen charts are great but will disappear with an expired subscription, I am fine using the LIDO & FAA charts). Thank you again very much.

Nav databases & Simbrief
Hello, I have recently switched to MSFS from XP 11 where I subscribed to Navigraph data approximately every 6 months. I am considering doing the same with MSFS. Before re-subscribing, I would appreciate any comments / feedback regarding the following: 1) Is native MSFS 2024 Nav data inferior to Navigraph's data? My understanding is that MSFS 2024 Nav data is updated fairly regularly. 2) Can MSFS 2024 Nav data be re-selected after utilizing a purchased Navigraph AIRAC cycle? Additionally, assuming that Navigraph data will overwrite the native MSFS nav data, will the LIDO & FAA charts still be available to view in the MSFS 2024 EFB after the Navigraph AIRAC cycle expires? 3) I have not previously used Simbrief, however my understanding was that your Simbrief AIRAC cycle for generating flight plans would coincide with your last purchased Navigraph AIRAC cycle. My last purchased Navigraph AIRAC cycle was 2507 however when signing into SImbrief the current AIRAC cycle available for planning is only 2403. Thank you very much.

MSFS 2024 new user questions
Members 35 Posted 59 minutes ago Apologies - mistakenly posted the below to the wrong forum (Tips and Tricks) Hello, I recently began using MSFS 2024, moving from XP11. It has been quite the ongoing learning curve, requiring lots of YT video time, reading of informative posts, etc. A few current questions / issues regarding the sim that I have not been able to completely understand / answer are the following: (My PC specs are Intel Ultra 9 285K, RTX 5090, 64MB RAM, 4TB HD). Thank you very much for any comments / help. 1) How does the sim handle the display of cockpit views? I have assigned many custom camera views to the numeric keyboard and a scrolling POV to the hat button on my T16000M joystick. The sim recognizes these individual view assignments fine, however when in sim and switching from one keyboard view to the other it will often times not display the requested view but instead a random undefined cockpit view or revert to the pre-defined default cockpit view (i.e. the view when you Shift + C into the aircraft). I do not utilize a head tracking device so especially during take-off and landing being able to accurately switch views is important to controlling and maneuvering the aircraft. Additionally, sometimes after selecting a keyboard view I may "scroll" that view a bit by utilizing the POV hat switch, when I then want to return to a pre-defined keyboard view the sim almost always takes me back to the pre-defined default cockpit view. I am using MSFS 2024 completely vanilla, the aircraft I am currently flying to learn the sim are the Piper Dakota, the Cessna 402 and the INI A320N v2. Are the view display anomalies due to these "default" aircraft being buggy, i.e were I to purchase a Black Square, Fenix, etc. type aircraft the issue would disappear....or could this be a MSFS 2024 bug? My PC specs are pretty high-end, I do get high 30s to 80s fps without any FG so my guess is that I am not experiencing a PC performance issue. 2) Airport weather reporting is very inconsistent. I have found oftentimes a significant disparity between weather reported via the in-sim EFB, the INI A320 EFB, ATIS reported weather, and the actual weather encountered when landing. 3) When using external view many times the view appears to be similar to a "fisheye" view from a camera wide angle lens. Is there a sim setting I can adjust to eliminate this? Thank you again very much.

Unable to launch MSFS 2024
Thank you all so very much for your responses. All of your suggestions were extremely helpful and acted upon. The suggestion by Flameout01 to "open Task Manager and look for gamingservices.exe" has appeared to ultimately solve the problem! I did find 2 instances of gamingservices.exe running and told Task Manager to "End Task" on both of them. After doing so, MSFS 2024 is launching correctly. Hopefully this launch issue will not re-occur. Thank you all again so much for taking the time to help me. Looking forward now to getting the simulator set-up and enjoying it as all of you are.

Unable to launch MSFS 2024
Hello, I purchased MSFS 2024 from the MS Store one week ago and have been unable to launch the simulator once since purchase. I opened a ticket with Zendesk and have received a couple of replies outlining steps to correct the problem. Unfortunately, nothing has worked. Each time when trying to get the sim to launch I encounter "syncing" and "authenticating" errors (i.e. one of the errors I receive is Error code 2000). In addition to the Zendesk recommended actions I have uninstalled and reinstalled the sim per a previous AVSIM thread on Error code 2000. As I recently purchased a PC specifically to run MSFS 2024 (i.e Win 11, Intel Ultra9 285K CPU, RTX 5090 GPU, 64 GB Ram) this has been beyond frustrating. I am switching from XP11 on an older PC. Trying to think a bit out of the box, I am considering uninstalling my MSFS store purchase and then repurchasing MSFS 2024 from Steam, thinking a Steam install might somehow work better. Does that action have any merit? Thank you for any help or comments.
