January 21, 201214 yr Hi guys,So I'm going through the J41 AOM by PMDG and a real world J41 flight manual that I got off the internet and I have a few questions thus far if you don't mind (finer points really).#1 VCACS system operation:I'm guessing for cooling the config is VCACS to 'on', fans either hi or lo and the recirc switch hi or lo?How about for heating? I'm guessing VCACS 'Fans Only' and the recirc switch hi or lo; with the heating switch 'on'.#2 Pressurisation: After initial power up I get and error code 'A013' and I'm unable to set landing elev unless the switch is set to manual and then back to auto. Is this normal? It's not in either manual.#3 TAS/TAT indicator: Why does this guage display all '8's in the window until engine start?#4 How common is operation of this aircraft without a GPU?when operating without a GPU I take it you get clearance through the ground clearance unit, then start the engines and wait for the AHRS to align itself whilst setting the RMU.#5 and finally; How do I calculate minimum takeoff lengths required (TODA, TORA, ASDA etc)? I'm used to doing this on small aircraft but I could find anything in the RW manual apart from airline specifc tables for individual airport runways, It states that for the takeoff run required the airline has to calculate this for each runway using factors such as TOW, anti-ice, bleeds, rwy condition, slope etc. and then issue it to the pilots. I am guessing because it's so complicated that a way of doing it manualy is not possible? Is there no way I can manualy calculate the takeoff distance for the J41?Thanks for your help!Richard Cruse
January 21, 201214 yr Now my J41 has been in the hangar for a while. So I'm not that proficient with it.#1. EDIT: Actually cooling and heating is automatic and can be controlled manually by using the controls on the AC control panel. Recirculation fans can be used in any phase of flight at either 100% flow (HI) or 50% flow (LOW).I think that the AHRS needs to be aligned or electrical power established before you can set the landing altitude. I think Robert covers that in the tutorial. With number three, it could be that those sensors need to be powered by the engine generators. Darn I need to re-read the manual. When it comes to performance, I don't think that has been publicly disclosed by BAe. Edited January 21, 201214 yr by Kenny Kenny Lee"Keep climbing"
