Parking Brake issue - Aircraft rolls when flight is started

Featured Replies

I have the parking brake set correctly in the flight file, yet the aircraft still rolls when flight is initiated. Any ideas what could be wrong?[Controls.0]SpoilersHandle=000.00FlapsHandle=000.00LeftFlap=000.00RightFlap=000.00GearsHandle=000.01Gear1=100.00Gear2=100.00Gear3=100.00YokeY=050.00YokeX=050.00Rudder=050.00LeftBrake=000.00RightBrake=000.00ParkingBrake=100.00ElevatorTrim=053.29RudderTrimPct=0AileronTrimPct=0

I've noticed this is more pronounced in FSX than FS9. However in the real world (of 20 years ago) many large aircraft did not have brakes sufficient to hold if all engines were at 100% power. We generally released brakes around mega_shok.gif-90 % power and just let engines finish spoolup while we rolled down runway. Didn't take long to get max EPRs and you have plenty of time to abort. It's actually possible on some aircraft to take off with brakes locked because when the airplane starts hopping up and down from the full power and locked brakes the older acft will intermittently release their brakes due to anit-skid releasing the brakes, as designed. Of course you will either (a) Take off but burn up the brakes, (:( catch the wheels on fire © crash). The destroyed DC-8 fuselage still sitting at Anchorage International Airport tried it many years ago (icy runway, didn't know parking brake was set) and subsequent crash. You will also notice on many acft with FADEC engine controls spool up takes longer to reach max power. This is part of design to control surge or compressor stall but it also allows time to compensate for the ram air effect as airspeed builds. On older acft without computer controls we reduced power slightly (sometimes) as EPRs and airspeed increased at same power setting.
