January 29, 201214 yr Hi guys, this time I have a rather non FS related hardware problem but let me explain the whole thing:This evening a good friend of mine phoned me and asked whether he could come arround tomorrow for playing a bit of C&C and some other things via LAN. I had been aware that I had one old PC standing arround here (Pentium 4 2,8 GHz and an Gigabyte 81845GVN-RZ mobo) so I thought I could exchange these parts with my old system´s things (C2Q Q8300; P5QLD PRO) to have a nice rig to play on. I´d installed the chipset drivers on the system prior to the exchange (At least it seemed so). Now, after more that 3 hours of work, I have the problem that the BIOS give me the warning that the CPU is overheated (I used the same CPU/cooler config for a long time even oc´ed and had never such a warning.) and windows XP won´t boot. Either in normal nor in safe mode. At some point it´ll stop and start from the beginning.Has someone an idea how to fix that? Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h

Simple as that! Thermal Paste has a tendency of drying up after a few years. Especially after sitting without usage. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
January 29, 201214 yr Also make sure that the CPU fan starts running when you turn on the computer. You need to have the side cover off to check this.
January 29, 201214 yr Also use a PC duster (compressed air can) to blast dust off your heat sinks.Do this fisrst and you might not need to reseat your CPU.Cheers,- jahman.

January 29, 201214 yr Author Try mounting it horizontaly SteffenIt isn´t my current system/cooler. Just my old things and the respective stock cooler. Just a temporary thing, I don´t plan to use it all time. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
