February 1, 201214 yr Hello CaptainsOne of my friend wants to sell his nvidia quadro fx3800. I know that fsx is very cpu hungry but it is worth to buy it for only fsx?How does the quadro series perform in fsx compare to let's say a gtx580?Any thoughts are welcomeLaszlo Laszlo Meszaros
February 1, 201214 yr The nVidia Quadro FX3800 is based on the 55 nm fab GT200GL GPU (See).whereas the GTX 580 is based on the ()much newer 40 nm fab GF110 GPU (See.).Me, I wouldn't touch the Quadro with a 10 ft. pole...Cheers,- jahman.
February 1, 201214 yr Author Hm thanks for your input. The reason I was thinking in the quadro series is because these cards are better in rendering than in performance and in fsx we are happy with 25-30 fps. (at least I am) Laszlo Meszaros
February 1, 201214 yr Well you answered you own question: Do you want a card optimized for CAD rendering or do youi want a card optimized for gaming?Cheers,- jahman.
February 1, 201214 yr Author I want a card what is good for fsx.I guess i will stay with my Gtx580 as no problem with it. This was just an opportunity. Laszlo Meszaros
February 2, 201214 yr I thought Quadros excellled at Opengl apps.FSX is a DirectX 9 app.Cheers,- jahman.
