February 1, 201214 yr This is an odd problem. Firstly, I have flown FSX for some time with support programmes such as SquawkBox, FS Commander, Plan - G etc etc running on a networked computer. In each case eithet via Wide Fs or SimConnect I have managed to sort things out.Recently I have been looking for a real weather programme - I am not too worried about eye candy, but I would like fairly accurate metars in terms of QNH, wind speed, vis etc. FSX real weather fills a gap but its updates lead to vast increases in speed or huge instant alt jumps even with FSUIPC smoothing.About to buy ASE 2012 when I found FSRealWX as freeware - using FSUIPC in either FS9 or FSX - it works well. But when trying to interface with Simconnect {either through a network or when installed on the FSX system]} the programme obviously connects with FSX - it identifies the correct start up ICAO, sends messages that weather for this ICAO has been loaded but nothing changes with FSX weather. Tried re-installing several times with no luck. I have also found that SB4 via simconnect on my network has a similar problem - it connects perfectly, I can communicate on RT and text, I can see other aircraft BUT when I select Vatsim weather, I see a message that weather is updated but there is no reaction on FSX ….!It seems that simconnect is working ok except that it will not accept any weather updates intp FSXV grateful for any ideas
February 1, 201214 yr FSX updated with SP1 and SP2?When using AS or VASIM does the weather theme in FSX automatically get set to User Defined?
February 1, 201214 yr Author Jim,I have SP1 and SP2 installed [both FSX and SDK}But Yes - I had noticed that in each case it seemed that FSX has been changed to User Defined ............................. ?John R
February 2, 201214 yr Then as far as I can tell the weather should show up.When using AS does AS recognize your current location in FSX?
February 2, 201214 yr Use Active Sky for accurate weather. It matches to jeppsen weather charts and forecasts, high altitude winds speeds and directions and so on.If you going to use something like FSFuel 3 or PFPX you will get 98% of accuracy of weather depiction with proper settings, so you can plan your fuel with nearly 100% of accuracy. February 2, 201214 yr Author Folks,Firstly remembered that SB4 does not include weather updates - senior moment and comes from running FSX and FS9 depending on what I am doing at the time. However, still have this problem with FSRealWx - either networked or running on the FSX PC. Load FSX then FSRealwx. Programme:1. Indicates connected ok, via simconnect.2. Clears FSX weather when it first loads and changes FSX weather to "User Defined"3. Downloads metars from AVSIM etc.4. Identifies FSX ICAO position and sends text message to FSX that it is loading the weather for that ICAOBut nothing happenes and FSX weather remains at "Clear"Seems that everything is correct except that the weather programme cannot interface with the FSX weather engine. According to the FSRealWx web site, I am doing everything correctly - so have I a got a problem with FSX itself which might stop me using advanced programmes such as AS2012……………………….?Ah the wonders of our hobbyJohn R Edited February 2, 201214 yr by FOD
February 21, 201214 yr JohnI suspect that there in actual fact nothing wrong with your FSX or simconnect setup. What OS are you using? I found exactly what you found when FSRealwx tried to set the wx using simconnect on a W7 64 networked PC. However when I set it up using a networked XP PC then it works and sets the wx well.If your setup is W7 and you have access to a XP system then try setting it up with that.A lot of other people are having problems with simconnect and FSRealwx. I hope a solution is found soon as it is a great prog!Martin
