February 5, 201214 yr I am having problems setting up views with the PilotView (PV) Plugin. I have the latest version running in Windows7 with TrackIR 4, and have read the accompanying PDF.The problems I am getting are; the view controls on the panel not moving the view (except the tilt view up / down); and when I can move the view (program seems to respond better to cursor keys, PageUP/DOWN, +/- keys) and think I have set up and saved a new view I find that when I call it up the view defaults to, in the case of the Q400, the back of the passenger cabin.I suspect I am at fault not the program and would greatly appreciate any tips other users have on how they setup their views. In particular the correct sequence of buttons to press to store a new view .Thanks TIM
February 6, 201214 yr Hi Tim,I never had trouble using the control-panle buttons to move the view. Hence I can't offer any help here.I was (and still am) struggeling with pilotview too. I don`t know if there are bugs in it (using XP10 / win7-64) or if it´s just me or just the way it is meant to be.I will tell you, what I found out: You have to "enable" the plugin (in XP / plugins dropdown list) before you try to set and save your views. If you open the pv control panel without having pv "enabled", you can move the view etc., but it will not save the new views (even if it seems to do so). After saving the views you should "disable" pv because otherwise each view movement starting from a selected view will change that view (unless you "load" the saved views via the control panel all over again). I always get into trouble with that cause I need to pan / tilt. My workaround is to disable pv. If pilot view is disabled you still can select the saved views! But you are not in danger to change them.If you start XP10 / load a new ACF you have to open the control panel and "load" your saved views. Just click the "load" button and you're ready to go.Unfortunately disabling pv disables the force effects too. :(Best regardsFlo Flo B.
February 8, 201214 yr Author Thanks for the reply FloB.I've managed after alot of trial and error (emphasis on the error) to get preset views for the Q400.The biggest problem I seemed to identify was having TrackIR running in the background even though I hadn't enabled it in the plugin , wasn't wearing it to trigger the sensor and was doing all the view setups from the "W" view as suggested.I like X-Plane but sometimes one of it's great advantages is also one of its' disadvantages. It's created by and sustained by alot of aviation passionate engineers.... who expect the rest of us mortals to be able to use programs with the barest of information. What's needed is the "Idiots Guide To PilotView".....to assist this idiot. Thanks again for replyTIM
