February 10, 201214 yr Author Ok so thanks for all the feedback. To be clear, if the FMC says "(vectors)" I had no question. I was more concerned with a discontinuity when the chart says there should be vectors to final (I'll dredge up an example in the next day or so). It's not clear to me if this is just a sim-ism due to bad nav data, or if the RW FMC would show the same issue. And based on the above, the discontinuity isn't a real problem and can be left as-is for the flight. I do wonder though... how does the FMC predict final fuel burn when there is a disco in place... just a thought.Regards,G
February 10, 201214 yr Author You cannot program a vector leg. Those are for premade procedures only. Thanks, that's helpful. This would be correct. When placed on vectors, you should be on HDG SEL until intercepting the LOC. No need to clear the disco.Wilco! Edited February 10, 201214 yr by gmohr
February 10, 201214 yr Like Ryan said, it might simply be an error in how the STAR was coded. You don't need to be in HDG SEL on the vector, the FMC will do that just fine. My experience is that most pilots will switch to HDG SEL, anyway. Matt Cee
