February 14, 201214 yr Whenevr I take the Cessna 172 to SKBO ElDorado Airport in Bogota Colombia the engine goes out, To maintain it going I have to move the throttle a tad, Bogota is situated at 6800 Ft.ASL .Could this be realism setting that there isn't enough O2 for the engine to keep running?Mostly happens with the Cessna. February 14, 201214 yr It's the altitude. Yes,a little throttle is a good thing and leaning the mixture at that altitude is probably necessary too. If you use a CH Throttle quadrant, try setting the throttle in the notch usually reserved for the detent between idle and beta range. Set the parking brake too. February 14, 201214 yr Author Yes woodhick, that's what I've been doing at these altitudes in South America, I have simple MS.FF2 with grey throttle handle,so I just give it a tad...Thanks.
