February 18, 201214 yr Kind of a stupid question ain't it? In the last 2 weeks or so I've had this really strange issue with my fans. The fans are not spinning constantly and even the leds are flickering on the 2 fans. I got in contact with Corsair about it and after 1 message they asked me to submit a RMA for my case which honestly is a pain to do. I am hoping that you guys have some insight if replacing the case (aka the fan controller and fans) will fix it. I also thought it could be my power supply not giving constant power but I fell that I would maybe see bsods because of this too. I do have my computer plugged into a surge protector but its really old and we did have a hefty power surge 2 weeks ago that essentially destroyed out washer. Here is a video of the problem:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PowAjxoxwG4Its not really a serious problem ( I think) but its very annoying to listen to.
February 18, 201214 yr Looks like the fan is pulling down or loose connection. . Kinda looks like the controllers dropping voltage. It almost to linear (On Off) to be like a bearing in the fan.You could bypass the fan controller (Hook fan direct to +12v) and see how the fan behaves? If its the fan. I would replace it and not consider a RMA. There cheap! If its the controller, good luck. I would think paying to send the case back would be more costly than buying an after market fan and or fan controller? Is it a Corsair fan controller or aftermarket? Thats a PITA. Good luck. Good luck. Its the corsair one that comes with it. I know I can plug it directly into a 12 volt source but I like when I have the option to do high speeds or low speeds. When I was testing I noticed that one of the ports on the controller was especially bad.I should plug a few fans into the motherboard to see if its the fan or the controller.

February 18, 201214 yr Author Well I plugged in the 2 white led fans into the motherboard and left the cpu fans on the fan controller and at least the 2 white led fans seem very smooth. Now its more pleasant to listen to even though its louder.I wouldn't mind getting a replacement from corsair, I just don't want to spend money on shipping especially for a case. Barnstormer1 or anyone that reads this thread have any experience with corsairs return shipping.
February 18, 201214 yr So its in the controller. I have no experience with Corsair return policy though they are a first class company. Most RMA's require at least one way shipping cost (UPS etc). Then at least two weeks turn around time. You will just have to contact them or check their policy. If their cool about it, they would let you replace the controller and send it back to them for QC assestment. I very much dought that! I have a Cooler Master 944 and it weighs a ton! Probably cost 50.00 just to ship it. Thats a problem with theses huge cases. I use a NZXT External display fan controller /temp monitor and I think I paid around 50.00 for it. Good luck Edited February 18, 201214 yr by Barnstormer1 ArDee
February 19, 201214 yr What kind of mother board do you have? ASUS for example has a fan or cooling utility that gives you really tight control of your case, power and CPU fan modes. You may not even need the external controller. If you opt for new fans make sure you buy PWM, Pulse Wave Modulated fans. They offer superior speed control and are less noisy. Make sure that you buy the proper three or four wire connector to match the one you are replacing WHERE IT PLUGS INTO THE MOTHER BOARD. Corsair is a great company, see if they will pop for the fan controller only.Good Luck Rick Bertz

I asked for the RMA but I am going to ask for just the fan controller although I highly doubt they will just send me that.
