Airport Beacon

Featured Replies

Can anything be done about the lack of the range of visibility of the airport beacon, rotating white/green light. In real life they can be seen for twenty miles on a clear night, but in Flight Simulator they can vanish while still on the airport property. I find in flying real aircraft it is easier to find an airport at night than in daylight because of the beacon.

Really? Never seen this myself. I usually pick out airports at night from a distance by spotting the beacon in the sim. I have to peer closely and sometimes zoom in a bit but it's always there...

Guys, you are talking about two different things. I think n77737 was referring to an object that rotates two cones with orange and green and you, Gaiden, are referring to an effect of airport beacon. They are two different things and their visibility is very different. Effect is, as you state, seen a couple of miles, while visibility of the object airport beacon is limited to something like 1/2, not even 3/4 of a mile.
