Mesh Quality?

Featured Replies

Hello,I want to thanks all mesh designers , specially the freeware ones, But I find more and more of these "anomalies" , How can I avoid this?FYI this an example from is British Colubia CBF2 airport , FSNav says it is at 2400 ft, my altimeter shows 4000 ft and look at the scenery...Any recommendations?

Hi,If I were you I'd e-mail the author of that mesh and ask them what's up with that.Regards,Jim

HelloI have seen this too and have found the cause of it to be 3rd party add on mesh files I had installed. Because your in BC doesnt necessarily mean its a BC Mesh file thats the culprit here either. I have had mesh for Alaska cause similiar like effects in Ontario. and mesh for southern ontario cause the same like effects in northern quebec. I dont know why this is I just know that that was cause and where it came from. If you dont know which mesh bgl is causing your problem, hopefully you have them all in one location, because that will make it easier to eliminate one at a time until you find the offender. I usually fly to the offending site and safe the flight without any mesh loaded. then add the bgls 10 at a time and reboot FS9 and go to the safed flight. Instantly you will know if any of those bgls are the culprit as you will see the anomoly rite away. Hope this helpsDon

The mesh isn't really the "culprit" here, it is just revealing the poor elevations MS has assigned to the water. If this is Holger's mesh, he may have a patch in the file library. If not, you can lower the elevation of the water using my flatten utility:www.fs-traveler.com/flatten.shtml"... hopefully you have them all in one location ..."Hopefully NOT. If the mesh files are installed in separate folders, you can simply deActivate the individual Scenery area and identify the entire group of mesh files that may be causing a problem."... then add the bgls 10 at a time ..."A tip: if you test 1/2 of them at a time, you will find the problem much quicker!Steve

Hello,I did a lot of testing.I did remove all my BC mesh but still with same problem, I did re-add the BC mesh. After removing ALASKA mesh all seams OK now !!!I did remove files : ak3, ak4, ak5.bgl and rupermesh1.bgl After testing ,I did add file after file into FS9 and check the result , I did add them in the following order 1/ rupertmesh1.bgl and all is still perfect2/ AK3.bgl and all is still perfect3/ AK4.bgl and negative result4/ AK5.bgl see screen shots at the top of the topic !What files are OK for Alaska Mesh : "rupertmesh1.bgl" and "AK3.bgl"What files are NOK and generate strange scenery : "AK4.bgl" and "AK5.bgl"Now you have to decide if you keep the 2 first ones ! I think these files are from Rob Gainerfor screen shots seehttp://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/DC...ID21/13438.htmlFYI I only do the check at CBF2 airport in

Hi;I've uploaded at Fsfreeware a new mesh for Alaska - as free download for all - designed with the 60 m usgs elevation Ned models - resampled at 38.2 - as we speak - that is the only mesh for alaska designed with the 60 m ned - and therefore a generation in front of what everybody use.The download is a bit big - but is well worth it. I'm also working on a full freeware usa at 38.2 m terrain - and you can find all the files as they get uploaded at:http://www.fsfreeware.com/dcd/New/or you can also search on the search engine for Usa 38.2 - on the 'Resource Name' box of the search engine - to get the whole of what is uploaded displayed.again - this is a completely free download for all.raimondo

You see Steve;i like to strech - and goes that 1 m extra where i can - Let's see what the users will think about it.also1 generation behind - do not think so - i have all set of dem ready - for compilation at 76.4 m - if i like to do so - so no problem with me - and compile so will only be a matter of 1 day of work!........ and usa will be now a free download - for all - perhaps that is what leave me a generation behind.i'm kidding - you are a good boy Steve -!Oh I forgot - you like me also to distribute a 76.4 m Alaska?? - i'll be delighted to do so.ray

Hello Raimondo,I , just, did download, install it and with the first flight I can tell : it is GREAT ! I like it!Thanks a lot.

Is nice and free - that make it even nicer.I like also to contribute to the community - with all my heart - as i always did - and always will do - and be in peace - i'm no exactly a new age man - but travelled very often in india - and they told me not to kill the worms - as they are alive.raimondo

Raimondo,Because of this thread, I've gone looking and now I have a question about your files! The Alaska 38m uploaded to flightsim (Alaska_3.zip) weighs in at about 310 MB. The 38m mesh no FSFreeware is two files (Alaska_A.exe and Alaska_B.exe) that weigh in at 1.15 GB. What's the difference between the two? Thanks!Best,sg

Dear Gridley;is the same scenery - at fsfreeware is uploaded into 2 autoinstall exe files - and flightsim will display the files into 4 zip - 1 - 2 - 3 and 4 - and rest of usa also will be on zip at flightsim - but on autoinstall at fsfreeware - for those who rather have the whole downloaded with a few clicks.I think Nels will also break the scenery into smaller zip for those with slower connections.also anybody who like to upload this usa mesh - on their own site - is welcome to do so - do not need to ask for anything - just go along with that - and i'm happy if anybody do so.ray

I see! I didn't realize there were four other parts at Flightsim! Thanks for the quick reply.Have you announced a release date for the rest of the US?Thanks for sharing your work.best,sg

If i work - at reasonable speed - the whole lot - will be completed sometimes during the 2 or 3 week of may - and files will be uploaded as i go on with the scenery - Important is not to do mistakes -.ray
