What one thing, really floats your boat?

Hi allbeen flying this evening just over Wales not really doing anything special. I was wondering as I watched the weather change, which I was getting from the net, what one thing in FS9 still gives you a thrill each time you see it.for me it's just gotta be when I'm in traffic and a holding pattern with several other planes, especially at dusk as you make your circuits. Well coolWycliffe

My biggest thrill is touching down, and when taxing off of the runway I see a terminal full of planes moving, being borded. The feelthereness is sometimes overpowering. Thats what I love :D

Hi,I'm with Fred in one regard... landing!. :) Seems like there was a lot of concern over the new flight dynamics when FS2004 first came out. But seems like for a while now I've been amazed at the feel of the flight dynamics of some planes I've been flying. Although I'm not a real pilot and wouldn't really know, they have felt pretty realistic to me and have made for some pretty challenging landings. There's a number of good freeware planes that have been getting updated flight dynamics. One for instance would be the F-84F I posted screenshots of here...http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...topic_id=122235Another that I thought was real good was the flight model for Tim "Piglet" Conrad's C-133 Cargomaster by Jay McDaniel. There are other of course.Anway, my vote goes for landings. Although it's not something I would say I 'see' as it's really something I do. If you really want to know about something I see then I would have to say it's the sky in FS9. I'm going to post some shots of what I thought were some pretty cool looking clouds/cloud formations in the screenshot forum tomorrow. A good number of them are around dusk which as you said is probably your favorite time of day in FS9. ;)Cheers,Jim

For me it's just the thrill of "taking the controls" and flying.

stormy weather at dawn, visibility under a mile, a light two-seater tossed about by the winds, glued to elusive radials for what seems an eternity... and then, through the fog, the rabbit!a glass of courvoisier and a cup of high mountain oolong do help... 'coz the real thrill comes after the simulated one, when i look around and see a cozy pad and not the cramped, cold cockpit.:)

Dreamfleets Archer, over the Indian ocean, watching the night arrive. The dusk textures, beautiful blues skies, shimmering seas and then touching down on a tropical island. This is my escapism from a hectic world and that computer screen seems to fill the whole room.Colin

Replying to myself how sad is that.Another magic moment, is flying into London City Airport taking the difficult landing which is over the Millenium Dome and in between the buildings around Canary Wharf. Get that approach wrong and your in a world of hurt and water.hahahahaha well cool.Wycliffe

This weekend I got all excited 'cos I downloaded a load of weird repaints for the Ultimate Traffic 767s - mostly African, South American and Asian carriers. Then settled down at a few airports hoping to see them. Never did, but I know they're in there somewhere, flying in my little virtual world. I need help... Ian

I really enjoy the take off & flying the SID, especially without the autopilot! :D

I dont think I've ever used autopilot for a take off, I generally only use AP when I've flown upto FL10 then I turn off my landing lights and kick in the AP.I think one still needs to listen to ATC quite closely even when on AP.Miss an instruction and you can be all over the sky trying to catch up.Wycliffe

A successful recovery to an aircraft carrier- at night and in poor weather. Get this right and you feel like a million dollars.Get it wrong and you certainly know it .Dave

Wycliffe, sorry that's what i meant. I like to hand fly the departure route. No auto-takeoff invented yet! :)

Where did you get all that scenery? I see the new AEU6.zip has the black lines around the ellow on the taxiway, is that what you are using or is it something else?

Unless of course you fly the Fa 18 Hornet, off a carrier deck, it's total hands off on take off. I remember watching a Discovery Wings show re carriers and you could see the pilots taking off with both hands in the air inside the cockpit. Scary or what. Wouldn't like to try that hahahahaWycliffe

WOW, that's amazing Wycliffe!
