March 15, 200422 yr Is this just me or will this happen to others. Flying on High Altitude jetway J8 every time I get to within 56 miles of the VOR HVQ I get hard drive activity and then the FS9 error message pops up saying it needs to close. I tried this 4 times in 4 different aircraft so I'm assuming I can recreate the crash time after time. The last two being default aircraft. And by the 3rd time was able to predict when it was going to happen within a half a mile. I don't have any add on airport scenery anywhere near this area. I've included a screenshot of the location on the FSNavigator map. Any Ideas?Willhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/67311.jpg
March 17, 200422 yr Willwhat does the error report say when you click on it? Does it cite any particular DLL as being at fault? I have had bad afcad files do the very same thing you are reporting. Try doing the same flight after removing your scenery folder inside your add on scenery file where all your afcads should be placed and see if yoou get the same crash. if it doesnt crash then you will know its one of your afcad files..Don
March 17, 200422 yr Thanks Don, The error report doesn't specify any particular DLL and just says FS9.exe. I uninstalled Ultimate Traffic and was able to get past this area until I got over airport KCRW. Then it crashed to desktop without even an error box. I'm thinking it must be the KCRW afcad file. Until I get it fixed I'll just have to stay out of this area. Will
March 17, 200422 yr Have you tried flying the route with a different season setting? I've read of some landclass textures causeing crashes.RobertVASim Flying most weekends in FlightAdventures.com multiplayer.
March 17, 200422 yr I had the same thing happen to me near Hong Kong shortly after I migrated from FS2002. Turned out that the Hong Kong scenery I had brought accroos conflicted with FS9. Removed that, and was good to go. Even better, the scenery designer quickly provided the community with an update. Summary: the first think I would check is any add-on scenery you may have downloaded covering that specific area.Regards,
March 17, 200422 yr Will:Do an error check on any airports that have AFCad2 BGL's in and around the area that is causing you trouble. I had that kind of trouble with one I changed and when I corrected the errors the CTD's stopped. I then checked all the AFCad2 airports I had downloaded and found at least half had errors which I then corrected. The error check within AFCad is a "must do" whenever working on an airport or when you download one that someone else has done. maxsdad
March 17, 200422 yr Now this is really baffling. I removed Ultimate Traffic, removed Landclass and mesh scenery and reinstalled all original FS9 scenery and the problem persists. I even uninstalled and reinstalled FS9 and checked the area airports for errors using AFCAD2. I cannot go to the following airports without a CTD. KHTS, KDWU and KCRW. If I get within 50 miles of these airports my Flightsim Crashes. I guess I'll have to stay out of the area until I get it sorted out. Will
March 17, 200422 yr Hello,Just a couple of days ago I ran across the same problem in FS9. The location is about 84 miles west of KOKC, about over KCSM. I have checked both of these airports for AFCAD problems and there aren't any. However, my computer is giving me a message that it can't find the file "netdtect.dll" and suggests I reload the application. In doing a search, it is true that this file doesn't show up. I reran the flight 2 more times after that with the same results.Does anyone know what this is? Do I really have to reinstall FS9??Thanks,Kurt
March 17, 200422 yr Do a "Google" search of 'netdtect.dll'. This may explain. I doubt it's an FS file(I don't have it on my machine) so an install of the sim wouldn't be helpful. You don't mention if you're connected or not to the WWW for live weather updates.....could this be a factor?
March 18, 200422 yr Default KCRW has been reported to cause CTD during Winter season texture application. Change to Spring and re-try a flight.
March 18, 200422 yr Thanks Barney,That's exactly what I did try at last. I switched to Spring and presto... I can now go to those airports and fly over the area without a CTD. Geeez, Microsoft would you fix this please. I guess West Virginia in the winter time is not a place I'll be flying to again. Will
March 18, 200422 yr Hi Barney,I'm using GetWeather and so don't actually connect to the internet while flying. However, after reading some of these responses and the info you pointed me to about 3rd party software, I'm going to try the flight with a fresh weather load. If that doesn't work I'll try changing the season. Thanks,Kurt
