  1. Hello: I don't know if this has ever been brought up. I can't find any items about it. Does anyone know if it is possible to change the distance for the ATC "find nearest airport" window? I believe it is about 30 miles by default. That may be fine when flying at about 150 kts or less but if traveling at 250 kts or more you end up with very little time before you are on top of the airport. It would be nice to increase that to at least 50 miles. If there is some way to change it in the FSX CFG can anyone tell me where to look for it? Thanks RichardS
  2. DAL196:Thank you for the answer to this problem. I have asked this same question before and no one could come up with an answer. I just read your post and saw your solution and tried it on my FSX by switching back to the original .dll and lo and behold I now have my Piston Engined aircraft running again. Thank You Very Much!!!RichardS
  3. Thanks. I have been monitoring both this site and the CLS site so I am aware of the work in progress. I also get the automatic alerts from CLS through my e-mail so I'm waiting with baited breath.RichardS
  4. Thanks. I look forward to getting that. I can also say that I will be looking into buying the other livery expansion packs to go along with the fix.I had held back on doing that.Again, thanks for listening and coming through.RichardS
  5. I don't know what you mean by "recompile" the models but it seems that if you haven't needed to do it in over 1 year then it will never get done. Please consider putting this on the front burner.RichardS
  6. Back on Jan. 14, 2010 I noted on the CLS forums that the Yokes in the VC blocked the HSI's. The subjet was brought up again on Jan. 28 by someone else and I also added my comments again. The responce we got from Albert Bouwman was "We have discussed this with our modellor and decided it will be added if we need to recompile the models for a next service pack in the future."Well, the next service packs came and went and did not address the issue of the yokes. All I (we) asked was to have a click spot added to enable us to remove the yokes so that we could see the gauges without having to move our eyepoints around. As I stated on the CLS forum, the Flight1 ATR72's have a click spot to remove their yokes so why can't the CLS 767's have one too?I feel that Albert and company totally ignored our request.I have since stopped flying the 767's and am very disappointed that my request was not taken seriously.I hope they see this and reconsider my request.Thank youRichardS AKA maxsdad
  7. I tried deleting the CFG. All that did was change my video settings and make me have to ok any none FSX aircraft. Using the 172 as the default startup didn't help either. As soon as FSX loads the aircraft, it shuts down and will not start. I also tried the Trike with no luck either. Each time a piston failed I would load a turbine and it would start with no problem. Piston(NG), turbine(G), piston(NG), turbine(G). I spend hours trying aircraft after aircraft of both types and got the same thing over and over. All the turbines started and all the pistons failed.I can't figure out what is not turned on to keep the pistons from starting. I tried with the fuel pumps on and off. They should start with just cntl + E but no go, but the turbines start fine that way. I guess I have lost the use of all my piston engined aircraft. Thankfully I have lots of turbines and jets that work just fine.RichardS
  8. Sorry I'm just getting back to the site.I did try with the 172 and it wouldn't run either. I didn't try from the saved flights through so I might have to do it that way. It just seems strange that this has never happened before and now none of my piston aircraft(single or multiple engine) will run. My normal screen opening aircraft is the Beech king air which is a turboprop so I may have to change to the 172. I'll try that.ThanksRichardS
  9. Help:I normally fly small jets and turbines and I have no problems. The other day I went to fly a Piston engine aircraft to do some low and slow flights and the engine would not start. It turns over but will not catch. I tried a number of my piston engine aircraft and none would start yet if I load a turbine right after trying one it starts up with no problem. I have never had this problem before and I have not added any aircraft or any other addons to my setup in months.Has anyone had this problem or know of a possible fix for it?ThanksRichardS
  10. Thank You both!!!!!I will look at both items.RichardS
  11. Hello:I don't know if this question has been asked or answered before. I tried searching for it to no avail.Does anyone know where to find a list of the ATC Parking codes that are used for FSX? I know UAL is United and DAL is Delta ETC., but I would like a complete list. The reason is that I am tired of FSX routing my Airliner to GA or Cargo parking most of the time because the "Aircraft" files don't have that info. Even most "Payware" aircraft don't have that info. If I had that list I could at least update my aircraft myself.I would appreciatte any help .ThanksRichard
  12. :( THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOUNow I can come off this 12 step program and get my fixes again.RichardS
  13. Dirk:To be honest I didn't really worry about those things. I just ran the software and it worked. I was in the windowed mode and was able to move the GPS, a Clock, Radio Panel and anything else I wanted over to the Laptop. I would fill the 14 inch screen on the Laptop with stuff. I didn't have too much of a FPS hit and that was with an old P4 2.2 with only 2G ram and an nVidia 7600 GT w/256M of RAM. I was running FS9 at 18FPS locked and my home base was Republic, LI, NY so I was happy with that. I could fly around NYC with no trouble. I found that FSX didn't run very well on that computer and especially in windowed mode, so I couldn't run Maxivista with it. That's why I got a new computer. But now I don't have the Laptop anymore so I haven't installed Maxivista on the new computer.I really liked Maxivista and used it all the time back then so I would recommend it to anyone to at least try it for themselves. RichardS
  14. Go to maxivista.com.I used to use it with FS9. Main screen on a desktop and GPS, Radios, ETC. on a laptop. All you need is maxivista and a router or other networking hookup to connect the computers to. I used a router that I was already using to connect the computers to the internet. Worked fine with FS9. Also at the time I was using windows XP on both. I have a new vista64 computer now and I don't have the laptop any more so I don't use Maxivista any more. Even though I liked it I can't see buying another laptop right now just for that.maxsdad
  15. Go to the GoFlight folder and look for an icon called GFDevFSX. It is 3 colored blocks with the letters MFC on them and says FSX to Module Data Bridge. Activate that before starting FSX and they should work. I made a shortcut for my desktop and I click it before starting FSX and it works fine.On my old computer with XP it did it automatically, but my new Vista computer wouldn't work until I found this fix.Hope this worksmaxsdad
  16. Rex:I tried putting them on top of the bezel for the air speed indicator in FSPS and checked "on top of" but that didn't help. I don't think the bezel that shows in FSPS and the one on the VC are the same. I did notice one of the icons peeking out from behind the bezel on the VC, so with some moving around I was able to bring enough of the icons into the space at the corners of the air speed ind. to be able to activate the gauges I wanted to activate. It's not pretty but if you don't know that they are there, you really won't even notice them.I'm happy now that I can bring up the gauges I want without having to keep going to the drop down menu while in the VC.Thanks for the idea. It made me think outside of the box.maxsdad
  17. Fr. Bill:I did them exactly the same way I did them for all the other aircraft. I even tried to piggy back them on the edges of some of the existing gauges and they still don't show up or even work as if they were invisible. think they have made it so it can't be done on that panel. That aircraft is the only one I have that has no visible gauge control icons on either the VC or the 2D panel. All of the hot spots are invisible in both the VC and 2D panels and they work on both. I wouldn't even mind if I could make mine work that way.maxsdad
  18. Hello:I'm trying to add some icons onto the VC panel of the F1 Pilatus PC12 to open some gauges I have added to the panel and even though FS Panel Studio puts them into the CFG they don't show up on the panel. I also can't add any gauges to the VC. I have no problem with my EagleSoft Premire 1, ES Citation X, F1 Cessna 421 or F1 Cessna 441. That seems to be the only aircraft VC panel that will not allow me to do it.I had no problem adding them to the 2D panel, just the VC.Can anyone give me the information I need to do this.Thanksmaxsdad
  19. Thanks for the feedback Guys.I have been away from the site and just saw your responses. Richard
  20. Hello:After reading a post about porting over the F1 Cessna 421, I added it to my FSX hanger. It works fine, but I seem to have a problem with the HSI and VSI gauges. The HSI has large green letters (GPSS) across the face making it hard to read and the VSI only shows the arrow. The arrow does work when I am ascending or descending. This is constant with the PopUp and VC gauges too. In the VC the background of the VSI can at least be seen, but as if the glass was steamed up.I was wondering if anyone else who ported over the 421 was having the same problem?ThanksRichardS
  21. I totally agree. I tried FSX for about 6 months but I just was not happy with the jerkies even after I added memory and a better video card.I can now run FS9 with nearly every slider all the way to the right and get 25+ FPS with most aircraft in most locations. Plus, I can fly my all time favorite aircraft, the EagleSoft Premier I which they are not going to make for or port into FSX.So I am BACK TO FS9 probably until FSXI comes out. By then I will be ready to get a new computer. RichardS
  22. Rick:First let me ask if you ever flew ATP? The Auto Complexity feature was purely user operated. If you didn't want to use it you didn't have to. Also there were 15 items to choose from in making your adjustments.I recommend you look on the internet at some of the many sites still active about ATP. Try to find the site where you can look at the blue manual and check out pages 143 thru 147. Maybe then you will understand what I mean. RichardS
  23. Bill:Thank you for that info. I made a setting where I took out everything and now I can land at a SMOOTH 15+ FPS. My only problem is that I use Flight1's GEX Enhanced normally and without it the ground level at my airport is about 6ft higher then with it. So my airport becomes subterrainian as I descend below 150ft. Small price to pay for the increase in performance. RichardS
  24. Bill:Thank you for that info. I will try that. You see, my main problem is that I live in Queens, New York not far from JFK and I made my own airport where my house sits in real life. I have to deal with all that scenery whenever I take off or land. I can fly the "ES Citation X Light" at altitude at a constant 15 to 20 FPS but when I hit NY I'm down to below 10 or less so you can see why I would like to be able to get rid of unneeded scenery. Will this work when I am flying an IFR flight plan or only VFR? RichardS
  25. Bill:AS I said to Michael, not everyone can afford to keep buying or upgrading their computers to keep up with FS.You mention making various configurations. Just how is that done? Where are they stored and how would you load them? I would really like to know. Maybe I missed something somewhere. That could be the answer to my question.RichardS
