Props will not stop

Featured Replies

I meant props will not start. Sorry. I recently installed FSX for about the 10th time. Everything was Ok when all of a sudden my prop planes will not start. I have battery power, fuel is on, engine just turns over. Avionics will come on under battery power but no engine start. Jets start fine. Tried deleting FSX.CFG. This did not fix it. CTRL-E does not work & creating a new default flight does not work. If the engines are running they shut down. If they are not running they just crank. Any thoughts?Pat

Very annoying isn't it?I had exactly the same problem with my last FSX installation. If I remember correctly, I think it eventually turned out to be an updated languages.dll in my root folder at fault. At the time, I had downloaded a replacement file that aims to improve the garish notifications in the bottom left corner for a more simplified text.(e.g. The default "Parking Brakes ON..." shortened to simply "PRK BKE")I don't know whether or not you have this installed, but reverting it back to a default one saved my day (and my prop flying).Best of luck :(

By any chance did you replace it with the backup included with the edited version? If so, I have faint memories of that one not working 100% either. If you have restored your original one, then I can only suggest an FSX 'repair' from the discs. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Pat. Just by chance did you check the mixture lever an see if it was in the fuel cutoff position. I had this happen and it drove me crazy until I found out that was the problem. fisheye

Yep I played with all the levers while I was trying to start just in case it was a calibration problem. Eventually did a repair install & that fixed it. Not sure what caused it but it is fixed for now. Thanks.Pat

DAL196:Thank you for the answer to this problem. I have asked this same question before and no one could come up with an answer. I just read your post and saw your solution and tried it on my FSX by switching back to the original .dll and lo and behold I now have my Piston Engined aircraft running again. Thank You Very Much!!!RichardS
