March 19, 200422 yr installed aardvark 747's in fs2004 but they are not showing up in aircraft list, although i can actually assign them to ultimate traffic in utilities section of UT, anybody had same problem, i can't see any probs with aircraft config and using latest models, the 757's i have installed work fine, i'm totally confused by it.Paul.
March 19, 200422 yr Replace the air file with either the default 747 one or Project AI one and you will see the AI Aardvark 747 in FS2004. I had that problem as well but changing the air file helped.
March 19, 200422 yr Yep thats worked, i tried using aired to edit the config but i couldn't change a value that was recommended on aardvark site, i wonder if there are any drawbacks to using default airfile? did you notice any yourself?thanx for the tip.Paul.
March 19, 200422 yr Doesnt sound like a perfect solution to put the default 747 .air file and replacing it.In aired you only have to change the =2 into a =0 (zero) in the line that says Aircraft Type=2 (8th line from the top)Click once on the number so the box appears and change number then press enter so it sticks, and then close aired/save .air file thats all.
March 19, 200422 yr Using AITM 2.0 by Thomas Molitor not only helps to comfortably organize all your AI flight plans, it also allows you to edit your air-files. It is a most amazing freeware tool, and I won

Those are not designed to be flown by a simpilot... :) Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
March 19, 200422 yr Glad its working now :)Actually I find it quite helpful to be able to temporarily turn them on to be showing, just to check and be sure that the last texture I added or something is working and not coming up blank. It has happend to me before so its nice to be able to run thru them and see where problem lies rather then seeing blank planes inside the sim :)Fortunately it doesnt take a restart of FS to make them show up, just an exit and enter again on the aircraft selection screen.A while back I ran across a program called "FS Aircraft Typer" that could mass change .air files. I'll be damned if I can find it again :(Might be somewhere in the avsim/flightsim libraries its made by someone called Janosoft
March 19, 200422 yr I'll second that.Anybaody who hasn't heard of or tried AITM should definitely downloada copy. And it's free too.
March 19, 200422 yr >Paul, why do you WANT an AI a/c to "show in the aircraft>list?" Those are not designed to be flown by a simpilot...>:)It was purely to see if they were working, as when i went to EHAM there wasn't one 747 there! got it working now using airEd but gonna check out the other recommendation.
March 19, 200422 yr Author yes, you need to be able to check that you have loaded textures properly (aircraft type = 0, using AirEd)but please note that if all your AI aircraft show on the "select aircraft" menu (aired aircraft type = 0), you will end up with ever slower reaction times when you select a flyable aircraft, because the list gets longer & longer & longer.therefore, strictly AI aircraft SHOULD NOT be visible on the "select aircraft" menu (once you are happy that their installation is correct) so once happy, re-set aired aircraft type to = 2then ai aircraft should appear at airports, but only the aircraft you intend to fly (aired aircraft type = 0) will appear on the "select aircraft" menu
March 19, 200422 yr Author yeah sorrysome of these smart people are now setting AirEd aircraft type to 2 so that their aircraft don't appear on the "select aircraft" list - this is so that ordinary punters don't say "i can't fly this plane" - which was intended for ai only [this is the case with the Aardvark 744]so, what you need to do id use AirEd to set aircraft type to 0, load your textures, check that they appear OK, then set aircraft type back to 2is that clear? cos i know what i meanis that clear?
March 19, 200422 yr Author this has nothing to do with the FDE file and it's best not to fiddle with thisAirEd is the key to making aircraft visible or not visible in the "select aircraft menu"contact me if this isnt clear, as i understand your problem exactly
