March 21, 200422 yr Why isn't possible to start an instant replay after a long haul. Normally, I am able to check my landing from outside view. This doesn't to work after a several hours flight. Thank you very much for any tips!Sam
March 22, 200422 yr Hi,You are probably out of memory. Try renaming default.xml to default.xml.orig and try the flight again. (Do a search for this file in the FS folders.)Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
March 23, 200422 yr Thank you very much for your kind reply, Tom!As I am not familiar with the meaning of "default.xml" I would like to ask you if it wouldn't have any negative impact to FS if I deactivate that specific file. Does FS rebuild it just like i.e. fs9.cfg?Might a tool like Memory Optimizer help as well? Thanks a lot for looking into this, Tom! Sam
March 23, 200422 yr Does anybody know if instant replays use memory which could otherwise be used on giving better FPS..it must be constantly saving a lot of information somewhere....
March 23, 200422 yr Sam...its possible it may not be your memory...let me ask you a couple questions...first off, how much time is left on the replay?, is there 0 or just a few seconds, or is it more like the last couple minutes or what?Next...are you using fs2002 or 2004, which one?...and were you using an older version of radar contact?...i know the old version of rc that worked with fs2002 would make you end your flight after touching down thus erasing any replays.also...if you use certain "blackbox" addons such as "FlightKeeper", and possibly others, it can erase your replays if you signal the end of your flight too early and before viewing replay. If theres zero or only a couple seconds available after touching down then id say its 1 of the issues above...but if you have a good amount of replay remaining (at least a few minutes then id say its RAM related. I have HALF the amount of ram installed compared to you and i can record several miutes of replay time on my machine (never tried viewing more than that so not sure exactly how much beyond 300 seconds that id actually be able to view)Hope that helps a littleDave Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
March 23, 200422 yr skywalker, it's in your autogen folder. It has stuff like gas stations and big mac's. Nothing that you're going to miss. It won't autoregenerate if you rename it, but dosn't matter--you really don't need it and it sucks up your memory big time. Try it and see if it works for you....billg
March 23, 200422 yr Thank you, Billg!Right! Now I remember that file which I already deactivated after a CTD discussion I had in the past!Sam
March 23, 200422 yr Thank you very much for your kind explanations, Dave!I am running FS2004. Except for ActiveSky, which shouldn't harm I guess, I haven't used RC (latest build 3.1) nor any other blackbox tools on flights longer than 7 hours. It actually don't get a single second to replay after an 8 hour flight. However, it does operate very well after shorter hauls, i.e. 2 hours or less. Does it work for you also for long flights? I quit using a memory optimizer as I thought it wouldn't make any difference after PSS solved the pagefile issue. Well, I'd might be wrong. I'll activate the optimizer again and see how it goes on my next flight from Zurich to Male!Kindest regards,Sam
