RV 6 Checkout mission

Featured Replies

I'm trying the RV 6 intro mission and get as far as the ravine and flying through it, but seem to lose power control whilst in it.Advancing the throttle registers on the manifold pressure gauge but the engine itself doesn't seem to respond and I end up in the trees. Is/has anyone else had this problem?

Not me. Check your prop pitch and mixture. Its the only thing I can think of.

You might want to enter the ravine with a little more speed. Also keep in mind that sharp turns will bleed off speed. Try entering the turn on the outside and turn as little as possible.

Thanks. It was lack of speed. I was concentrating so hard on the terrain that my speed was dropping to 40kts which was too slow to recover from.I did it again but this time at about 100 kts and managed to get through. (just).

Wait till you do the Waipio Challenge, if you have not already. Speed management is crucial - along with throwing in some aerobatics in between - I did it in the Stearman, took a while but finally got an award for it. Just purchased the RV6, going to try it again with it and see if I can get a higher award.
