After spending over a week playing (and I mean that literally :( ) with Flight, I came back home to FS9. I was determined to give Flight a chance, and be objective about it.Yesterday, I did a flight from Orlando-Sanford to Salisbury MD using an Allegiant MD-87 (an actual route Allegiant uses). Did the flight planning, fuel planning, checked the weather. Loaded up Activesky, Radarcontact, FSPassengers, ran my checklist, and took off. Experienced an truly awesome sunset at FL330 (thanks ActiveSky!!), and had a challenging visual approach to Rwy 23 which is a bit narrow and short for an MD-87, but if Allegiant can actually do it, then I should to. I did, and finished 2 1/2 hours of pure enjoyment. Not a gold coin hanging in the air anywhere.I don't begrudge the people who are enjoying Flight and the gaming aspect, and maybe some day after it matures it will be something I will look at again, but for now... like I said, I'm back home. Just had to get this off my chest to an audience that knows what I'm talking about :(

Welcome back, although I don't think it has to be an either/or proposition. Flight has proven to be a remarkably enjoyable simming and gaming experience for me, for those times when I need a break from learning the FT E-Jet's systems. I think there's room in our philosophy for a little gaming once in a while. And I can't wait to see what Alaska will look like.

Well, for me it is either/or. I understand that for a lot of people that's not the case. The game aspect of Flight just seems down right silly to me... but again, that's just me. I don't like in general any of the console type games, so it's really an aspect that has zero appeal for me. If I can do in Flight what I am doing now in FS9, but with better scenery, smoother frame rates (they really have cleaned up the graphics code as far as I can tell), then I'll make the switch. If I want a break from complex jets, I just hop in the great freeware C152 I have.

I'm with you on this one, mnmon.I haven't d/loaded Flight at all as I can tell from all the posts about the product that it is just not serious enough for me.For example, as an MS flight simmer of 30 years experience I don't see why I should have to complete two basic missions before I can explore the rest of Hawaii and Flight. I'm also concerned about so many things that I have access to in FS9 and which are not in Flight - or, at least, not yet. And with third party developers not being able to add to Flight I am, again, concerned that we will not see the competition and sheer variety of a/c, scenery and utilities that we have for FS9.I wish MS all the best with their new product and I sincerely hope that it will be a big success for them. Meanwhile, I will stay with FS9 as I still find it an amazingly immersive product despite it being 8 years old now.David
