March 11, 201214 yr Because my Vertex Plus SSD got corrupted I reinstalled Win 7 X64. After that I see all old content on the drive still there including FSX. Why? But I can't run FSX. I suppose I have to manually remove all old content and reinstall it?!
March 11, 201214 yr If you want to get rid of all the old Win7 and all other content you (normally with a hdd) need to format the drive first. This option is included in the install process, and it's the same with an SSD.First - always unplug all other drives except the new SSD. Make sure the BIOS is set for AHCI mode with the SSD as the initial boot device. Second - only quick format should ever be used on an SSD drive - never a full format. Full format will write to every LBA on the SSD, rendering the SSD fully used. Quick format only deletes and then re-creates the MBR.During the install process, go to Advanced Settings and delete the existing partition on the drive, then create a new one. This will align the drive correctly, then format the drive and install the operating system. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
