March 11, 201214 yr I am currently using AffinityMask=63 and it seems to allow all 6 cores to share the load. I have also read some recommendations for using a value of 62, but not sure why? Can anyone comment? Also, my system is "factory overclocked" at 4.6 GHz but came with HT enabled. I have disabled HT and only see the 6 physical cores in task manager. I can't see any difference in performance with HT enabled or disabled, but I hear that keeping disabled with an overclock is best.Any thoughts on HT or on the AffinityMask FSX.cfg tweak? What are others using who have i7 3930K hex core CPUs?
March 11, 201214 yr Author 62 will let the OS and utilities have core 0.Got it, so if I run a WX engine or other utilities, they run on core 0. So 62 sounds like the recommended setting for 6 cores. What about Hyperthreading? Right now I have it disabled.

Can anyone comment?Grab the built-in Windows Calculator, select "View" --> "Programmer", and put 62 in, with "Dec" checked. Then select "Bin". You will see "I I I I I 0" in the output window. The lowest numeral is the lowest proc core number - this one devoted to FSX. Try again, this time with 63. For the i7 series guys, put in 14. Do the same exercise with your IP address. Within five minutes you will be able to count in binary. In this world there are only 10 types of people - those that can count in binary, and those that can't! i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
March 11, 201214 yr Author I get the binary calculation, just didn't know why it would be good to exclude a core, but now I know. I'm still not clear on Hyperthreading though. Is the general consensus to leave it disabled with a 6 core overclocked system? I've always heard there was little benefit in it and the cores would heat up more.
