Strange mesh issue

Featured Replies

This is a very odd one guys. I have had recently, on a couple of occasions, a situation where the scenery would load but the messh elevations were all up the spout. Now what is interesting is that has happened both in GEX/UTX Europe scenery and also Orbx land. The first was at Bear's Gulch, a small strip in PNW, where a bridge was obviously at a different elevation to the surrounding textures. The second was only yesterday, but I have witnessed this last week too. It was at Aerosoft's Madrid airport and the river running around the outside of the airport dropped in one place like a massive waterfall. The thing is, after saving the flight at that point on each occasion and restarting, the error had disappeared and all was fine. Somehwere at the back of my mind I seem to remember hearing that this is a known FSX issue and it just happens occasionally, although in my case it seems to happen more often. Or, is there something more at play here that I should be aware of. I have checked the library and all the scenery is where is should be. Any ideas gratefully received as always fellas, cheers.

UTX Europe scenery areas should be lower in the Scenery Library than any other scenery area. Any FTX/Orbx scenery is located above UTX in the Scenery Library. I'm certain you have these sceneries properly located in your scenery library but just wanted to make sure. You should look at your mesh resolution setting as this raises/lowers scenery objects. So, if it is set to max, it may not be compatible with all scenery areas. FTX/ORBX has various recommendations for mesh/texture resolutions depending on the scenery. Unfortunately, those settings may not be compatible with other world scenery areas. In regards to Aerosoft's scenery, I would check to make sure you have their recommended settings. I know that there has been problems with mesh resolutions at FSDT airports where higher mesh resolutions will place the airport on a plateau and the surrounding areas are much lower. Lowering the mesh resolution usually fixes this problem. If you want to see if this is just a UTX issue, you can disable the scenery and see if the anomalies still occur. If so, you might want to check the UTX forum for any updates or fixes that might have been made for the areas you question. Hopefully this helps.Best regards,Jim

Thanks for your reply Jim. Hmm, most things you suggested are in play. I'll go back into FSX and check things out again. Cheers...
