Jet spray effect for AI?

Featured Replies

The posky 747 has a really nice jet spray effect tied to the smoke system that other have successfully used with other planes (see the "Bad Weather" clip at FSClips.com).Does anyone know how to go about making that, or a similar effect, work for AI planes? Where's Nick Needham when you...you know...require his presence ;)?Thanks in advance!Best,sg

Thanks for pointing out that video....I'd like to know how that jet spray can be created too!

There's an obviously titled post in the FSClips forum that says the author of the video basically copied the effect from the Posky 747 and added it to his other jets...they debate over how to control the number of engines that generate the spray, etc. Over my head. I'd like to make my AI look like that though...Best,sg

Yes, on AI I meant...that would be great. Have you got Nick Needham's jet smoke on your AI? I've begun to install them but I've got a lot of AI planes. Could do with an auto installer!

Working on that too...trying to swap the ultimate traffic models with AI Aardvark models, and installing nicks smoke at the same time. Wish I could install spray effects at the same time...An auto-swapper for the AAI models would be useful as well...Best,sg

Howdy, regarding that jet engine effect: it's indeed possible to map it to AI aircraft so that it only occurs on the ground. I haven't tried this particular effect but have experimented with other ground-only effects:http://www.flightsimmer.com/forums/showthr...=&threadid=9344The disadvantages are that you can't really control where they occur (they will be active whenever ground speed is higher than ~5kts), you can't have the effect triggered by weather (as far as I know), and you'd need a separate model for each AI aircraft.Cheers, Holger

Thanks for the reply, Holger - interesting stuff. Would be great if it was weather-condition-specific...Here I thought you were -just- a scenery guru ;)Best,sg
