DCS A-10 CBU-97 Tutorial

Featured Replies

The DCS A-10 is a sweet sim, and one that does a great job in modeling some weapons. Being prior military, both special ops and heavy weapons, I've always been very interested in the more complex munitions. Sadly, a lot of "Virtual squadrons" seem to do their runs with just being fully armed with Mavericks. I love the mav, but to be honest, it's a kids toy in comparison. Of course the weapons like the Maverick are simple so I can understand why so many kids like them, but I hope some people will see the beauty of the engineering that goes into the 97 and if nothing else, maybe get even more immersed once they see just how much of this great bomb is really modeled in the DCS A-10. It's also a very miquoted weapon. DCS barely touches on it and even wikipedia is incorrect on some things. No one website gives this much information and some of this information isn't on any sites.Who's my source of information then? Well, TDS of course. The ones who designed\built it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQLWzbDTAEk

Fantastic Dan! I'd always wondered how those things worked. Scary stuff. Fill your wings with these BLUs and stick your ammo options to 'unlimited' to create pretty patterns on the ground :(

Haha, yeah, I don't know about dropping to many of these. They bring any system to a crawl on impact. The last set I drop took several takes since a 4 ripple is quite the light show indeed. I actually think it might be the sound though that causes its stutters. Anywho, glad you liked it Simmo.

Very nice video Dan displaying the various weapons on an A-10 and their capabilities. You kept it entertaining and educational and I know I would never want to be one of your targets. Thanks for the show!Best regards,Jim

Thank you, Jim. Glad you liked it. I love to learn and putting together tutorials will normally teach you more than you knew to start with, so it's win, win for me in doing these :smile:I learn a lot of video editing in the process as well, so that's a bonus. I like to ham things up as well, but not sure our overseas friends will know some of the intended humor. That's one reason I tossed in the fart. The universal quick "haha" moment for all ;)
