Crosswind Flight Pattern 03/17

Featured Replies

Tonight I'm setting the wind high and just doing touch and gos by myself to practice a bit with crosswinds. If anyone wants to join me just add my to XBL. My gamertag is GUCommander. I'll be starting now and playing for about an hr or two.

Hey gucommander. Sorry I didn't see this post last night. I'm new at this and could use some pointers on high wind landings. Have you tried the RV-6 landing challenge mission yet (think it's #2) ... Landing in a 29 knot crosswind ? Took me about 12 tries to get a score of over 1400. Wind is so strong that your coming in at about a 10 degree angle (pointing @ about 1 o'clock just before touchdown. Like to see how it's done to get a perfect score. Still think I got lucky to get my 1407 pts.

Thats exactly why I was practicing yesterday. To do better on that challenge :PUnfortunately the challenge starts you a bit further from the airport than i'd like so I found it quicker to just setup some high wind and practice in free flight. Ultimately the session was to practice crabbing during final and transitioning into slipping once you get the airplane over the runway.A reasonably good explaination is http://www.ehow.com/...-crosswind.htmlp.s. Nobody joined me last night :(

I was on last night looking for a game, but didnt see this thread until I had finished playing. Ive played with you a few times during Kalo's flights but Ill add you next time I am on.

Kalo is usppose to have one tonight at 9 EST.GU, I hate some of them crosswind landings. 9 times out 10 because I don't calculate for them I am usually pushed off the runway. Hopefully I can make your next practice session.
