March 29, 200422 yr Guys, I was looking at my logbook file today, and have over the last 2 years about 1300 hours of logged time. Most of my flights last about an hour or so, though I have a good number of 2-3 hour regional and national airline flights. Rarely do I do the intercontinental flights. I just dont have the time. But in looking at my logbook, (which I subsequently pulled into excel so I could sort it), I notedone thing...I've flown all over this blue marble of ours, but not much time in Africa. Eygpt on the way to somewhere else...sure. Johannesburg same thing. However theres a VAST continent that I seem to have skipped. Is there no good scenery of the Serengeti? Kilimanjaro area? Khartoum? The vast plains of Africa etc low and slow with elephants etc as scenery would be awesome. Perhaps Im dreaming and watching too many nature shows. But I think we missed one of the earths great regions...especially for bush flying. Are there commercial or great freeware sceneries I just missed?Eric AND
March 29, 200422 yr I was wondering that too. I'll be checking this post to see if I've missed any good ones. :-)billg
March 29, 200422 yr LOL that's funny Eric, I am kinda the same way. I used to watch those nature shows as well and wondered what it would be like to fly the wilds of Africa over heards of antelope. When I got the FSD porter, I found a zebra skin by ZBOOM and it inspired me to play with scenery ideas of hunting camps and safaris, never finished it, but was pretty fun at first, I might have to finish it up now.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/PBTMCa.jpgCalVirAir International VACougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviation[link:www.cgrmthelos.com]Cougar Mountain Helicoptershttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/69200.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/69201.jpg Best, Michael KDFW
March 29, 200422 yr Most scenery designers create their own home area. There's not a lot of FS going on in Africa so not a lot of people calling it home that are part of the community (and of the people that have computers over there, most have no internet access).I believe there's something for Kilimanjaro and South Africa, plus Lago has packages for Cabo Verde and the Egyptian rivierra, but that's about it.
March 29, 200422 yr There is a collection of Moroccan freeware scenery by Toni Agramont, whcich covers most of Morocco. By coincidence I'm looking for some source photos of Menara (GMMX) to do this airport in GMax...if anyone has any I'd appreciate it.
