You guys are funny. I'll admit it yes I am a mega lurcher. I've been flight simming for years and if my identy was given and I actually stayed with the Flightsim community some of you might actually still know who I am. I was a big guy in the VA world with NWA et al, started US Airways VA, helped start and develop the website and ran America West VA and eventually started and ran Spirit Airlines VA. I"m not looking for cookies but I do see your point Word Not Allowed but yes I was excited. Anyways I just got a new system and I don't have the money or the time to build an FSX dedicated rig. I needed a multifunctional platform. So here it goes, I bought a HP s5-1160 slimline computer with a HP 2711 WLED monitor. It has I5, 8 gigs of ddr3 and all the other fun stuff that comes with a packaged computer. I replaced the graphics card with this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102958 And I have to say I am very very happy, I am running FSX at all sliders right except for Scenery Complexity at very Dense and autogen at dense. I am getting avg 25 to 30 FPS. I couldnt be happy for a pre made rig. Honestly it came with a 6450 512mb ATI Card which really didn't do that bad but I wanted the extra speed in the core and the 1 gig of mem. I hope I didn't ruffle any feathers just got excited as the biggest thing I had before was 22 in led monitor but the WLED and the 5in are just an OMG I mean when your preparing for T/O and your runway actually covers from left to right like in real life you get kinda excited!

Ahhh, the HP U2711. I saw it only once, and was really close on picking one - I didn't yet, solely because of the price. But I had U2412M here, which I also sent back, which really had good good colors and picture quality!Glad to see you are enjoying it! Funny thing is how everyone else got excited about it, but not you Just%20Kidding.gif Talk about irony. But I'll probably order Catleap Q270 when they do that deal with OCN...

Definetley was pricy. It was a spur of the moment buy but I have to say I am very impressed with the colors, the efficiency and the options. Can't go wrong with it.

Say, can I ask you to test out one thing?Measure how far from monitor you are sitting. Then pull up a dark picture, FSX flight at night is enough, full screen, and tell me if you see the white glow in lower corners, especially in down right corner? It's the only downside of an IPS monitor.

EDITED (useless, everything explained previously).
Nice thanks.....

I checked it out last night and I don't have any type of white hue coming from any of the corners. I do have 1mm of super faint brightness coming from around all edges but in all honesty you have to look for it. If you were just looking at the screen or on a regular flight you will not notice it. The one problem with the monitor I have had is occasionally I will have to jump back into CCC and adjust my resolution back. I'm still looking for this bug but it very rarely happens.

You made sure you looked at the very dark picture, possibly at darkened room, like the evening or so?

I was in a pitch black room at night with all lights off except monitor which is how I fly FSX, because I mainly fly at night after my kids go to bed. I didn't see any type of hue or white bleeding from the edges.

Wow, that is truly awesome. But I guess you are sitting about 1m from the screen, right?

I'm sitting about 20 inches away. I know not great on the eyes but I am cramped by a bed lol

Half a meter!? And if you have no glow... that would mean you probably have one in a thousand. I envy you.
