Resizing Textures

Featured Replies

I am looking for some advice on how to re-size textures in FS to reduce the file size and increase performance. Would someone be willing to provide me with some instructions that do not require extensive knowledge of design? I hope to resize several more default textures and hopefully upload them to AVSIM if my results are successful and people want them. Since I don't have any skill in design or painting, I was hoping to be able to contribute to the community in this way.Any takers?

Hi, There is only few thing can be improving for performance and have been already resized in the library, autogen, building, cloud, and water reflection are all in the library, search in the library. Also you can do this without resizing the texture by using the slider in fs2004 called Global texture size.(Resized texture) up to 8 level resized1024; 512x512; 256x256; 128x128; 64x64; etc.Global texture size sliderhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/69604.jpgPs: I have noticed with time, many user switch back from default size for better quality.ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs

........Ps: I have noticed with time, many user switch back from default size for better quality.........Y'all are so right, Chris. We pull back on everything to get the FPS up, but aren't happy with the visuals. Every so slowly we inch the sliders back to the right until eventually we are very happy and don't even notice the fall off in FPS. The human mind is so easly tricked into happinness.-------------------Racartronit means something, but I just can't remember what

Actually, Chris, I was tinkering with the idea of reducing the size of the downtown buildings in some areas thinking that would help in larger cities. I would also like to see how much smaller the textures will go before the loss of visuals makes it not worth it.Also, who has reduced the file size of the buildings? I saw the autogen buildings were reduced, but not others, could you enlighten me.Bummer that this has already been done so much, I would have liked contributing.Look forward to hearing from you.bestrightseat
