fsx tweak final adjustments

Featured Replies

Im a kind of a tweak addict but ive just decided to rebuild my cfg and start again with a clean new one.First of all my specs:i5 2500k @4.8 24stable8gb g.skill 1600 CL9 clocked down to 1333 CL7GTX 570 clocked to 900mhz and 2000mhzWindows on crucial m4 ssd and FSX at vertex 3GEX europe, UTX, REX 1024 dtx5, AS2012 as weather engine. I do mostly fly in europe. EHAM - EGLLIm using the 275.33 drivers and ive set nvidia inspector just likethe last picture of Word Not Allowed posted in a other topic. (8xS with 2x SGSS 16x AF)Ive had shader mod 3 installed but deleted it and rebuild the shaders. But i do have still some micro/stutters.I looks ive more shimmering in general and mostly at aerosoft airports which are worse then before, has that something to do with the shaders? or maybe some nvidia control/inspector settings.I've had more fps with running fsx unlimited and using a external limiter, but then i didnt had crisp, sharp textures. With which tweaks or settings do i need to play with to find the sweet spot? I hope for some tips. This is my CFG: [bufferPools]UsePools=0[JOBSCHEDULER]AffinityMask=14[GRAPHICS]HIGHMEMFIX=1TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096NUM_LIGHTS=8AIRCRAFT_SHADOWS=0AIRCRAFT_REFLECTIONS=1COCKPIT_HIGH_LOD=1LANDING_LIGHTS=1EFFECTS_QUALITY=2GROUND_SHADOWS=0TEXTURE_QUALITY=3See_Self=1Text_Scroll=0D3D10=0IMAGE_QUALITY=0AC_SELF_SHADOW=0[Display]UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=35TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40RUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR=1.0RUNWAY_LIGHTS_VASI_SCALAR=0.9RUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=0.9RUNWAY_LIGHTS_STROBE_SCALAR=0.5ChangeTime=1.0TransitionTime=1.0ActiveWindowTitleTextColor=255,255,255ActiveWindowTitleBackGroundColor=0,28,140,64NonActiveWindowTitleTextColor=255,255,255NonActiveWindowTitleBackGroundColor=24,33,87,64InfoUpperRightTextColor=255,0,0InfoUpperRightBackGroundColor=0,0,0,0InfoLowerLeftTextColor=255,255,255InfoLowerLeftBackGroundColor=255,0,0,128InfoLowerRightTextColor=255,255,255InfoLowerRightBackGroundColor=255,0,0,128InfoBrakesEnable=FalseInfoParkingBrakesEnable=FalseInfoPauseEnable=TrueInfoSlewEnable=TrueInfoStallEnable=FalseInfoOverspeedEnable=FalseBLOOM_EFFECTS=0SKINNED_ANIMATIONS=1WideViewAspect=True[TERRAIN]TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=1376TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=907LOD_RADIUS=6.500000AUTOGEN_DENSITY=3MESH_COMPLEXITY=100MESH_RESOLUTION=25TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=29DETAIL_TEXTURE=1WATER_EFFECTS=6[Main]DisablePreload=1FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.1User Objects=Airplane, HelicopterSimObjectPaths.0=SimObjectsAirplanesSimObjectPaths.1=SimObjectsRotorcraftSimObjectPaths.2=SimObjectsGroundVehiclesSimObjectPaths.3=SimObjectsBoatsSimObjectPaths.4=SimObjectsAnimalsSimObjectPaths.5=SimObjectsMiscMaximized=2Location=440,130,1480,908,.DISPLAY1HideMenuNormal=1HideMenuFullscreen=1[sCENERY]LENSFLARE=0DAWN_DUSK_SMOOTHING=1IMAGE_COMPLEXITY=4SmallPartRejectRadius=1[Weather]WindshieldPrecipitationEffects=1MinGustTime=10MaxGustTime=500MinGustRampSpeed=1MaxGustRampSpeed=200MinVarTime=5MaxVarTime=50MinVarRampSpeed=10MaxVarRampSpeed=75TurbulenceScale=0.500000WeatherServerAddress=fs2k.zone.comWeatherServerPort=80WeatherGraphDataInDialog=0AdjustForMagVarInDialog=1DynamicWeather=0DownloadWindsAloft=0DisableTurbulence=0CLOUD_DRAW_DISTANCE=4DETAILED_CLOUDS=1CLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY=8THERMAL_VISUALS=0thanks

I get the micro-stutters too and my cfg is a duplicate of yours i.e. Usepools, highmem etc.I have just accepted it . I don't think it will ever be silky smooth, but I am very happy with what I have now.Bob

My microstutters are minor now so I can accept them. But my main issue now are my shimmers, don't know what happened but they appear more then a couple of days ago, so maybe it has something to do with the shaders or other settings. And how can I achieve high enough fps with limit in fsx because I mostly fly at eham with the ngx with as1012 rex weather and with externel limiter I could maintain 26-35 fps but not with the internal limiter.Thanks.

Usepools=0 and affinitymask=14 were enough to clear my stutters.I also use TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=60 which may be worth a try.Playing around with the framerate limiter may help, try unlimitted (I found 41 to be my sweetspot until I changed my monitor to a 22 inch widescreen, but now find 31 better). Some have foundthat the external limiter works better inthis respect.I do run my PC now with minimal background services ( I only have 25 running on W7 64 bit - I found all of the others unneccessary after a run through Blackvipers settings). Just make a note of any servies you disable, so you can renable them if youget any issues.I did have some issues when I used a high texture_max_ load of 4096 like you and reverted to the stock 1024.Shimmers are usually more a mipmap issue. Try using a mipbias seting of 5 or 4.IAN

Thanks for the reply i will try your settings. im running 33 services at startup. this is what is currently running.fdgdfgii.pngI do use 1024 dxt 5 rex clouds but have texture max load set at 4096 because of the NGX.You mean i need to ad mipbias to my fsx.cfg? ive tried mipbias 6 a time ago but it made it al worse.
