Leaning the A36

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

any hints how to lean the A36 in a professional manner? Seems, that the Leanfinder is only a dummy, and the EGT does not really work either as it should (almost no needle movement when reducing fuel flow). Only way is reading the charts in the POH?

Thanks, Thomas

I read in some post from a real A36 pilot that he leans it such that the needle of the manifold pressure and the fuel flow needle agree in position. I tried that the last flights and it seemed to work quite ok. Otherwise I try to listen to the pitch of the engine such that it runs smoothly.

I lean mine to peak EGT is what I lean it to but I'm going to try leaning it 20 degrees lean of peak and see what that does
