juts ran into some sort of dead end problem here... Is there really no way to assign an FSX key command to access 2D panel popups that have IDs greater than 9? I can't seem to figure out a way how to popup the F/O CDU upon key command for example.

 

Should there really be no way of doing so, could the devs maybe think of adding such key commands through their custom key input system that's already present on the NGX? As we know you can click on the CDU in the VC and it would popup, so I would assume it should be possible to have this linked to a key command internally as well just as all the other possible controls.

If you have FSUIPC (registered) you can assign a key or other hardware/joystick button press to "panel id toggle" with a parameter set to the panel id number.

Ah I see. I thought there might have been a way in FSX itself, but I guess all we have there are the predefined key commands 1-9. Thanks for the quick help!

Cool! Gave this a try, panel ID toggle, as well as panel toggle (attached below), with a value set on keypress. Neither appears to do anything. Also tried a value of 2, nothing again. What am I doing wrong?

Did you go into the panel.cfg of the aircraft and read what the ident number for the window/panel in question, then input that id into the parameter field next to the panel id toggle drop down menu item? It definitely works for me with every aircraft, I've been using it for years.

 

For example in the current version of the NGX with the SP1c patch the left CDU ident number is 402, that is the number you input in the parameter field.

OK, that is what I'm doing wrong. Was using the window "sequence" number from the panel.cfg file, eg. 0 thru 18 or so, not a three digit number. Will have another look.

 

Do you know what the difference between the panel and panel ID toggles is?

The panel 1, panel 2, panel 3 options are the same as pressing shift + 1, shift + 2, shift + 3 etc on the keyboard, so instead of having to assign key shortcuts to joystick buttons in FSUIPC you can assign directly to the panels called by those default keys without having to waste valuable key shortcuts, you also dont have to go trawling through the panel.cfg to find out what the ident is. That doesn't sound very clear I realise but I'm knackered and cant think of a better way of explaining it at this late hour, lol.
