April 6, 201214 yr Hey guys, maybe you can help me with this issue. After installing the scenery, I'm getting blue tiles where the scenery should be. These blue tiles go all the way out to the horizon, and the strange thing is that what I'd consider the "complex" things like the mountain ranges seem to load fine...its the areas around the water and off in the horizon. I accepted the recommended changes the installer asks for and I think my machine can handle it: Asus Republic of Gamers G53S I7 2630QM, 1.5GB Nvidia 460, cuda...6gb ram, yadda yadda. I did use jbote's tweaks once before, but strangely enough when I ran his tweaks, I was getting the same issue with blue tiles even before I installed Megascenery (and getting them in non-populated areas. I'm running FSX with all the updates (Deluxe version, not acceleration pack), Any ideas? (Oh that Frontier EMB 195 is one I'm painting and about to release) :) Thanks in advance for any help. April 19, 201214 yr Thanks in advance for any help. Not sure if you fixed this problem yet Steve. My only suggestion is to make sure Las Vegas MegaScenery is sitting above any landclass software like Ultimate Terrain X in the Scenery Library. Best regards, Jim
April 19, 201214 yr Author Not sure if you fixed this problem yet Steve Hey Jim, Turns out it was some errant tweaking I was doing to the FSX.CFG that was the culprit, when I reset the FSX.CFG, all was well. I then went in and just did some selective tweaking. All is fine now...and looking quite stunning I must say. :) Thanks for replying! April 19, 201214 yr All is fine now...and looking quite stunning I must say Glad to hear you found the fix Steve. A lot of those so-called 'tweaks' don't work on every system. I only use a couple like the highmemfix=1. I think the Las Vegas MegaScenery is awesome, especially when flying around Hoover Dam area. Best regards, Jim
April 19, 201214 yr Author I think the Las Vegas MegaScenery is awesome, especially when flying around Hoover Dam area I totally agree, especially when your flying around it in a plane you painted. :LMAO: I'm about to release the FSX version of the Frontier EMB you see above. I may eventually paint all the tails for Frontier, but have so many others in the paintshop right now, that will be way down the list of things I need to do. :Hypnotized: In fact I'm painting so much I don't have all that much time to enjoy the scenery....but now that I've got my system looking good in FSX (just converted from FS9 if you can believe that), I'm doing more flying than painting, which is how it should be. :) Interesting note Jim, look at our forum sign-up dates...I joined the day before you (over ten years ago!!!), and we have a very similar post count, LoL (And if I remember correctly, that join date really reflects the date we joined the new Avsim forum after a major overhaul.) No, I joined before you on March 7th. :LMAO: :LMAO: Yes, I remember we were members long before Tom changed to the new forum format (and now we are yet in another era). They couldn't reenter everyone's actual date of joining so they came up with March 7th for everyone. I can't believe I'm still here though as many of the new members are very rude and disrespectful. It happens in all forums though. I like your repaints. Very talented. That's a great contribution to our community for sure! Thanks! Best regards, Jim
April 20, 201214 yr Author Thanks Jim, I found out I had a knack for painting, its very enjoyable for me, and gives me great satisfaction giving back to the community that's given me so much. I just ignore all the folks here who want to spend more time causing hate and discontent than contributing to a conversation about our hobby. And you're right, unfortunately we have that in all forums. Maybe guys our age have a different perspective on life than these young whipper-snappers! :LMAO: (I'm old enough to have had an AARP card automatically mailed to me, so if you're in the same group you can guess-ti-mate my age, hehe).
