April 7, 201214 yr Well, of COURSE you should try this at home, because it's really thrilling! The screenshots don't do the experience any justice, that's for sure. I took off from Lihue, Kauai, and flew over the water to Dillingham , Oahu, in the middle of the night with thunderstorms all around. It was a roller coaster ride, I can tell you! I only used VOR triangulation to find my destination (so no ingame map). In the middle of the flight, already quite some time above the sea, I suddenly wondered of Dillingham wasn't one of those little sloped runway's with no lighting which you can hardly find at day, let alone at night! It also took quite some time for one of the VORs to come alive... It was really a relieving moment to suddenly hear the morse code! (I always turn on the ident if I have no contact with a VOR so I immediately know when it's within reach.) It's dark. One of the CDI's is already centering. If it wasn't for the VORs I wouldn't have a clue where I was! The other CDI also starts to center. But I still don't see anything. All the time I am thrown up and down and left and right by the wind. Ah, the coast! I am relieved to see land! The airport should be there somewhere: both CDI's are almost centered, but I don't really see it yet... There it is! Glad I've made it. Almost. Luckily it isn't a small strip with no lights! Not the best approach ever, but I landed smoothly nonetheless (love my new rudder pedals!) Again, those static pictures don't do justice to the experience...
April 8, 201214 yr My anti virus (Norton) is reporting the site you have those images on as Malicious and blocks it. Could be a false positive (Which I find rather rare with Norton), but just to let you know! Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
