737 EVO doesn't follow flightplan/dives on ILS

Featured Replies

I have been flying the 737 EVO since it was released.  I installed the 1.1 and then the 1.2 updates when they were released.  But I have encountered a few of problem which make it difficult to fly.  Today was especially frustrating.  I was trying to fly a leg for a Southwest virtual airline.  I spent 2 hours setting up and flying.  I had almost reached my destination.  So I restarted, spent another 2 hours only encounter different problems.

The major problems I encountered -

1. When approaching some waypoints the FMS suddenly decides it wants to go back where it came from and starts doing a 180 degree turn instead of continuing onto the next segment of the flight plane.  The course for the next waypoint is usually within 20 - 30 degrees of my current course so it is quickly obvious the airplane is not following the flightplan.  I have to switch to heading mode from LNAV and manually intercept the next segment.  Then switching back to LANV and the airplane follows that segment.

2.  At random points in the flight the FMS suddenly decides it wants to go someplace 6450 NM away and turns to a course of 320 degees to get there.  No matter what I do - even deleting the entire flight plan - doesn't help.  Regardless of what I do it wants to go to the unknown waypoint.

3.  Once on an ILS approach today I had VOR/LOC selected.  It captured the LOC and tried to turned 180 degrees away from the inbound course.  Next time on the same ILS it turned to the correct inbound course but then when I engaged APR mode it tried to dive to the ground.  The GS was just a bit over 2 dots above the aircraft - i.e., the aircraft was below the GS by just over 2 dots.

Is there a fix for these problems or should I stick with the PMDG 737-700 instead of the Wilco 737-300?

I have none of the problems you describe. The 737 from Wilco is actually very reliable to my surprise.

I can conform that 1. is happening occasionally. I couldn't figure out the pattern though. It's not like it's happening on every flight, but especially when flying the arrivals, I always have an eye on the HDG select button, just in case. I've read about an update for the FS9 folks, concerning the LNAV. Maybe it finds its way into the FSX version soon.

I wrote to the Wilco support a while ago and they've forwarded the report to the devs.

I never saw 2. happening so far.

A friend of mine wrote about a problem sounding similar to 3. but, personally, I never had trouble on the ILS so far.

Thank you for the responses. I am hoping there will be an update to fix these problems soon. In the mean time since I really like flying the 737-300 I am planning to go back to the pre-Evo version and see how it works for me.
